Are Kate Middleton And Prince William Trying To Increase Their Popularity In America?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been making headlines since exiting the royal family in early 2020. Since that time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have moved to California and been speaking very openly about the royals, including Prince William and Kate Middleton. Following their departure from royal life, Harry and Meghan sat down for a televised interview with none other than Oprah Winfrey (via Marie Claire). In the interview, the Sussexes told the famed journalist that they were both unhappy living within the confines of the royal family. They also spoke out about specific members of the family.

Meghan told Oprah that a rumor that she had made her sister-in-law, Kate, cry during wedding planning was untrue. Instead, Meghan claimed that it was Kate that made her cry when she had an issue with the flower girl dresses. Meghan claimed that Kate later apologized and sent her flowers. "I'm not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her," Meghan said. "She's a good person."

For his part, Harry told Oprah that he felt "compassion" for his older brother, William, whom he claimed was "trapped" in the system, per Page Six. Unlike Harry, William is set to take the British throne and is second in the line of succession behind his father, Prince Charles. Sources later told Us Weekly that William was "fuming" over Harry's comments. Now, it seems that William and Kate may be ready to do damage control.

William and Kate may be headed to the United States in 2022

According to Fox News, Prince William and Kate Middleton are working on rebuilding their reputation in the United States. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have reportedly seen a bit of a decline in the States since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exited the royal family and moved to California. In addition, the Sussexes' interview with Oprah Winfrey also impacted the Cambridges' likability. Meanwhile, sources told royal expert Katie Nicholl that there is a good chance that William and Kate will head across the pond in the fall of 2022 in hopes of boosting their profile in the USA, per Vanity Fair.

"Team Cambridge is very focused on America and making sure they have a high profile over there. The possibility of them making a high profile visit is very much on the cards for next year," an insider told Nicholl. The source added that William, Kate, and their staffers were hit hard by the interview. "[They] are aware that their popularity took a bit of a dive post the Oprah interview, and that the focus now is on getting that support back. America is a very important audience for them."

William and Kate still have many supporters in the United States, and their fans would surely love to see them in the States. However, the couple has yet to announce a trip to the USA yet.
