Why The Holidays Could Be Awkward For The Kardashian Family This Year

Kourtney Kardashian's family dynamic is changing. The Poosh founder recently got engaged to her boyfriend of nearly a year, Travis Barker. The Blink-182 drummer popped the question at sunset on the beach at the Rosewood Miramar Hotel in Santa Barbara, California, per Us Weekly. The couple reportedly had a romantic dinner at Nobu before heading to the site of the proposal, which Barker had surrounded with thousands of red roses. He then got down on one knee and proposed, and of course, Kourtney said yes. E! News reported that cameras for the Kardashians' new reality series were rolling during the big moment and that Kourtney's sisters, Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian, as well as her mother Kris Jenner, were all there to share the special moment.

While the family celebrated the big news, Kourtney's ex-boyfriend, Scott Disick, is said to be unhappy about the engagement. Kourtney and Disick dated for nearly 10 years before calling it quits in 2015. Sources now tell People that Scott is "not happy about the engagement." The insider continued, "Scott never approved of Kourtney dating Travis. He has struggled with their relationship. He always had this idea that he and Kourtney would eventually get back together. He was pretty shocked when he found out that she was dating Travis."

Now, it seems that the upcoming holidays could be awkward and difficult for the Kardashian family and Disick.

Things are changing for Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick

The upcoming holiday season may take a toll on Scott Disick, who usually spends the major holidays with the family of his ex-girlfriend, Kourtney Kardashian, with whom he shares three children, Mason, Penelope, and Reign, per Us Weekly. In the years since their split, Disick has stayed very close with the reality television family. However, the holidays will likely look much different this year as Kardashian will likely be spending time with her new fiancé, Travis Barker, which sources tell the outlet spells "bad news" for Disick.

"He'll always be part of the family by virtue of the kids, but it's awkward. The holidays are going to be challenging, especially if he's sulking or kicking up any type of fuss whatsoever," the insider stated, adding that Disick is "going to have to face facts and fend for himself now in many ways."

As for Kardashian, she's looking toward the future with Barker. "Scott is a distant memory, but she wishes him no harm," the source said. "It makes her laugh now that she kidded herself for so many years thinking he was The One when she had Travis right in front of her the whole time. All it took was that leap of faith, and now she thanks God she made it."

It seems that there will be a lot to work out for Kardashian and Disick as they figure out how to navigate their new situation.
