Celebrity Family Feud Season 12 - Details We Know So Far

The truth about "Family Feud" is that it's one of the funniest unscripted series on television. Hosted by Steve Harvey, this game show sees contestants filling in the blanks of questions, hoping to match with the most popular answers that the show's surveys have yielded. Winning "Family Feud" isn't easy, but the cheesiness of an adventure being worth more than its end prize is true with this show. Simply getting to guess with your team and make Steve Harvey, your teammates, the live audience, and the world laugh is empowering — and it's what the show is all about.

"Celebrity Family Feud" is no different. This series sees teams of competing celebrities duke it out until one of them remains standing, just like in traditional "Family Feud" style. Celebrity participants and teams have ranged from the cast of "Grey's Anatomy" to athletes like Steph Curry and reality stars like the cast of "RuPaul's Drag Race" (via Episode Ninja).

A celebrity version of "Family Feud" is a no-brainer, as other celebrity variants like "Celebrity Big Brother" always entice viewers with an added element of intrigue, and now "Celebrity Family Feud" will likely be returning for its 9th season. This is everything we know about Season 9.

The release date isn't known, but renewal is likely

Like "Family Feud," "Celebrity Family Feud" has become a staple on network television. It's endlessly entertaining, and because of this, it would be hard to think that it would be canceled anytime soon. Still, Season 9 hasn't yet been confirmed for the game show, so it's not out of the woods yet.

According to NextSeasonTV, the series' 8th season concluded on September 19. Because some time has already passed since the last season's conclusion, ABC will have to release a statement declaring the show's fate, whether canceled or renewed, in the near future.

What we do know about "Celebrity Family Feud" is that ABC doesn't like to air it in simultaneity with its parent series, instead preferring to air them on their own, separate runs to maximize viewership. In fact, according to Vulture, ABC even limits the amount of episodes of the two series so their syndications don't overlap.

While we don't know when "Celebrity Family Feud" will return, it's safe to say it won't be until next summer as the latest season aired from June until September.

The Season 9 cast could include up-and-coming names

Because "Celebrity Family Feud" isn't yet officially confirmed for Season 9 to the public, we don't yet know any of its cast, aka who will appear on each episode's rivalling team of celebrities. However, we can be pretty sure that Steve Harvey will return as the Season 9 host. Harvey has been hosting the franchise's flagship series since 2010 and has extended his role onto its celebrity version since 2015 (via IMDb). Harvey's experience with the series has even included executive producing an episode of "Celebrity Family Feud" in 2019. With new opportunities like this coming his way, Harvey is surely not going anywhere any time soon.

As for the Season 9 contestants, not much is known. In typical talk show and game show fashion, some teams appear on "Celebrity Family Feud" as promotion for new seasons of their television shows, so looking to new and returning television shows may provide you good hints. Examples of this include teams made of cast members from "Station 19," "black-ish," "The Goldbergs," and "The Bold Type," among others (via Episode Ninja).

A lot of teams are made of professional athletes, including NFL players, professional boxers, MLB players, and more. If certain athletes are making big names for themselves right now, they might be cast for the next season. Part of the fun of these shows is speculating about who you think will be on the series — and who you want to be on it.

New details prove Season 9 will be more colorful than ever

While not much is known about "Celebrity Family Feud" Season 9, fans can rest easily knowing that Steve Harvey's wardrobe will likely look a little brighter in the franchise's next installment. According to GQ, Harvey recently revamped his style because he missed feeling "fly" like he once was. He said hosting game shows had removed the color from his wardrobe, and it was time for an update to this closet. One day while Harvey was working on "Celebrity Family Feud," probably an episode of Season 8, his wife and their joint stylist, Elly Karamoh, set out to update his wardrobe — and they did.

"My motto is to be fly 'till I die," GQ quotes Harvey as saying. Social media noticed this, too, as pictures began surfacing in 2021 of his old-new style (via People). It's safe to say this will carry over into Season 9 of "Celebrity Family Feud." If Harvey says he's had enough of black suits, it means it's time for something new! And because this show thrives on "colorful" personalities, this wardrobe update will make the series feel even more alive, fun, and special.
