Why Fans Are Worried Derek Hough Might Miss The Finale Of DWTS

"Dancing with the Stars" fans are worried Derek Hough might miss the show's Season 30 finale. According to Parade, Hough appeared as a judge during the show's semifinal in-person. However, the following day, the professional dancer revealed the news that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The "DWTS" judge, who has also been flying to Las Vegas every week to attend his "Derek Hough: No Limit" residency at The Venetian, revealed news of his diagnosis in an Instagram video, alongside a caption that read, "UPDATE: This week's shows in Vegas will be rescheduled for a date soon, stay tuned and I'll announce the new dates shortly." Addressing his followers in the Instagram video, Hough said, "I have some news to share, and I wanted you to hear it straight from me. Even though I've been fully vaccinated, I have just been diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID. I just found out. I feel OK. I feel strong."

Speaking to fans in the social media clip, the Emmy Award-winner added that he is currently being cared for by doctors and he is doing everything in his power to recover as quickly as he possibly can. "I'm currently in quarantine, and I'll make sure I keep you guys all updated with what's going on." With the "Dancing with the Stars" finale scheduled for November 22, it seems doubtful that Hough will be able to attend the show.

This isn't the first time Derek Hough has skipped DWTS due to Covid

Reacting to the news on Instagram, Derek Hough's were quick to send their well-wishes and ask whether or not he would be part of the November 22 "DWTS" Season 30 finale. "Wb finals? Can u judge from zoom?," one fan wrote, while another added, "Get better soon!!! Your residency! The finals! speeeedy recovery. sending good vibes from New Jersey."

According to Parade, Hough also previously missed an episode of "DWTS" Season 30 back in October during the Britney Spears-themed night due to a "potential" exposure to COVID-19. Sharing the news at the time, host Banks told viewers, "Due to a potential COVID exposure, and although he's fully vaccinated and tested negative, Derek will sit out tonight's show out of an abundance of caution."

As The Sun reported, Hough is one of several "Dancing with the Stars" cast members to have tested positive for the virus throughout Season 30. Others include Cheryl Burke and her partner, Cody Rigsby; the pair were required to perform their dances virtually ahead of being allowed to return to the ballroom and compete with the rest of their co-stars.
