The 94th annual charity event featured performances from Elvis Costello, James Blunt, Years & Years, Cirque du Soleil, and several others (per Sky News). All proceeds from the event benefiting the Royal Variety Charity are distributed to those in the entertainment industry who currently require assistance and care. Overall, the Royal Variety Performance was a success, and it provided the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with a night of entertainment amidst their busy schedules.

Though Prince William and Middleton were photographed entering the event on their own, the royal couple were actually joined by some familiar faces once they took their seats inside the Royal Albert Hall.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were spotted with Middleton's family at a recent event

When Prince William and Kate Middleton sat down to enjoy the entertainment at the Royal Variety Performance on November 18, they were joined by some familiar faces. According to Twitter, Middleton's parents Carole and Michael were also in attendance and sat with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge throughout the evening. Kate's brother James and his wife, Alizée Thevenet, whom he married in September, were seated with the royal couple as well (per Hello! Magazine).

The Middleton family is quite close, and Kate's parents often attend events alongside her and Prince William. Although there was apparently some controversy surrounding Carole and Michael's continued appearances at these events, according to Entertainment Times. Allegedly, Prince Charles had complained in the past about not being able to see his grandchildren as much as he'd like since Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were frequently with the Middletons instead.

Whether these reports were founded in truth or not, the Middletons were noticeably absent from royal events for several months. Their appearance at the Royal Variety Performance is one of their first since the apparent dust-up occurred at the beginning of 2020.
