Did Meghan And Harry Wish Kate Middleton A Happy Birthday?

The relationship between Prince William and Kate Middleton and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has been rocky for years (via Insider).

However, things went from bad to worse when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke out about the royal family during a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021.

Following the interview, sources told The Telegraph that William was very upset about Harry and Meghan's comments and that Kate was trying to smooth things over and support her husband. However, Us Weekly reports that the brothers' bad blood has affected Kate and Meghan as well.

"[Kate and Meghan] were never that close, but the reason they're not speaking is because of the rift between Prince Harry and Prince William," a source told the magazine.

"Harry and William have communicated sparingly over the last year, but none of their communications have been friendly in quite some time. There is real animosity that the brothers have toward one another, and that has spilled over to Meghan and Kate's relationship, making it very hard for them to be friends or even friendly."

Recently, Kate celebrated her milestone 40th birthday, but Meghan and Harry stayed noticeably silent about the Duchess of Cambridge's special day on social media. However, the Sussexes may have wished Kate a happy birthday in private.

Here's how Meghan Markle and Prince Harry wished Kate Middleton a happy birthday

According to Us Weekly, although Kate Middleton and Prince William aren't as close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they used to be, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex still reached out in honor of Kate's 40th birthday.

Royal expert Christopher Andersen tells the magazine that Harry and Meghan called her on her special day. "They did a video call," Andersen revealed. "They wished her a happy birthday. [It was] very private."

The author also claimed that the Sussexes had no plans to post about Kate on social media. "Harry and Megan were not about to post anything the way they did two years ago," he said.

Andersen admitted that things have changed among the royals since Harry and Meghan displayed "their affection" for Kate on her birthday in 2020, which prompted their decision to keep things private this time around.

Meanwhile, Kate reportedly celebrated her special day by enjoying a "small family affair" at her Anmer Hall home, which included a few of her closest friends. "Kate only has a very small circle of friends," Andersen stated, adding that she has a very "interesting" tradition of baking her own birthday cake.

It seems that the Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed her small birthday bash — and may have even made a little peace with Meghan and Harry on her 40th birthday.
