Here's What Diamond Experts Have To Say About Megan Fox's Engagement Ring - Exclusive

After two years of dating, Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox are engaged — and experts have weighed in on the unique and meaningful design of Fox's engagement ring.

The two met while working on "Midnight in the Switchgrass," and the 31-year-old singer proposed to the 35-year-old actress in January 2022. According to Page Six, Kelly designed the ring himself with the help of jeweler Stephen Webster.

The ring features a toi et moi style, as well as two pear-shaped stones, an emerald, her birthstone, a diamond, and his birthstone. They are set "on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love," Kelly said on Instagram.

Speaking to Vogue, Kelly elaborated on the design. "The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings. When it's together, it's held in place by a magnet. So you see how it snaps together? And then it forms an obscure heart. And you see this right here? The bands are actually thorns. So if she tries to take it off, it hurts ... Love is pain!" he explained to the publication.

Experts shared their thoughts on the ring's unique design

Diamond stylist Danielle Leeann of ThatBlingBabe, spoke to The List about the symbolism of the toi et moi style, which combines two elements into one. "Unlike a traditional diamond engagement ring, this style offers an unmatched level of personalization, from the types of stones you choose to the way they come together through the setting. ... [It] isn't just another engagement ring style, it's a true storytelling piece — and I am sure it is a trend we will see more of this year," Leeann explained.

While the shape, style, and symbolism behind the ring are known, what about the size and value? Well, Bill Kung, the owner of Ultimate Diamond, provided The List with some expert insight. "Megan's toi et moi style ring features pear-cut [D-color] diamond and pear-cut [untreated Colombian] emerald, both appearing to be approximately five carats each ... Therefore, the ring is estimated to be valued at $350,000," Kung noted.

Megan Fox was previously married to Brian Austin Green, and the pair had three children together, Noah, Bodhi, and Journey. Machine Gun Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, also has a daughter, Casie (via Page Six).
