Why Fans Think Dr. Sharon Goodwin Could Be Leaving Chicago Med

Dr Sharon Goodwin has to handle the pressures of being the Chief of Services at the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center on NBC's medical drama "Chicago Med" in the "One Chicago" world — that also includes "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago P.D." Played by S. Epatha Merkerson, Dr Goodwin has held the team together, and she's definitely a fan favorite.

After one recent episode, one fan tweeted, "Man you can't stop Mrs. Goodwin when she sets her mind to anything. #ChicagoMed." While another viewer tweeted, "Goodwin is the best. Have we said that today? She IS. Hands down. #ChicagoMed"

However, there have been doubts regarding whether or not Goodwin will remain on the show. In Season 7, Goodwin has been dealing with reporting Medicare fraud to the FBI, battling diabetes, and getting her glucose levels stabilized (per TV Insider). Executive producer Diana Frolove told TV Insider that the diabetes struggle is "going to continue to be a problem for her. And it's something we are going to play out in the latter half of the season."

Although, some fans think the health scare storyline is setting up Goodwin to leave the show.

One speculative fan tweeted, "What is Miss Goodwin doing?! Is she leaving for the Law and Order revival?! Cause I don't like that! #ChicagoMed." They weren't alone, and another user tweeted, "With Law & Order coming back, I just wonder if Goodwin will be leaving Med. With Merkerson going back to NYC to be Van Buren #OneChicago #ChicagoMed."

However, it sounds like Dr. Goodwin fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as there will be a new lieutenant on the scene in the "Law & Order" revival. According to VarietyCamryn Manheim has been cast to play Lieutenant Kate Dixon in the new series, and will replace Lieutenant Van Buren.
