Donald Trump Jr. Has Harsh Words For Peter Dinklage About The Snow White Drama

Continuing in the tradition of "The Jungle Book," "The Lion King," and "Beauty and the Beast," Disney recently announced the production of a live-action remake of the classic "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves."

That news struck Peter Dinklage as pretty, well, dopey. Speaking on Mark Maron's "WTF" podcast, the Emmy-winning actor took issue with the studio's retelling of a story that stereotypes people with dwarfism as comical outcasts.

"Take a step back and look at what you're doing there. It makes no sense to me," Dinklage said (via TooFab). "You're progressive in one way, but you're still making that f***ing backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together... what the f*** are you doing, man?"

The remake will star Rachel Zegler as Snow White, and Dinklage pointed out the studio's hypocrisy in casting a Latinx actress while still retaining the dwarf characters.

"All love and respect to the actress and all the people who thought they were doing the right thing," he said. "But I'm just like — 'what are you doing?'"

Dinklage's comments didn't go unnoticed by Donald Trump Jr., who posted a sarcastic comment on Twitter

"LOL...this is getting so ridiculous," he wrote. "Also, it seems he was fine with the dwarf jokes in ["Game of Thrones"]. I guess it's all good as long as you're getting paid? Disney consulting gig coming Spring 2022."

Trump frequently takes aim at "cancel culture" issues. When the estate of Dr. Seuss stopped publication of six of the author's books in 2021 over racially offensive illustrations, he called it "absolutely insane." "We've lost our minds and we're encouraging it by allowing it," he said (via Newsweek).

Twitter users think Donald Trump Jr. is the Dopey one

Disney has since responded to Peter Dinklage's criticism by releasing a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

"To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of the dwarfism community," said a spokesperson. "We look forward to sharing more as the film heads into production after a lengthy development period."

The "different approach" may mean cutting the characters altogether. According to The Wrap, Disney is currently casting voice actors for "magical creatures" that the outlet claims "will be the substitutes for the original seven dwarves." The studio has yet to confirm this or to announce a title change for the film.

As for the tweet from Donald Trump Jr., some agreed with the former first son that Dinklage's anger is unwarranted.

"I don't get it. It's not even a negative portrayal, and millions of people love [the Seven Dwarves]," said one.

Other followers pointed out that, in the movie "Elf," Dinklage was the target of a joke about being one of Santa's elves. Unfortunately, there were some cruel dwarfism-related jokes in the replies as well.

But other followers are dishing the sarcasm right back to Don Jr. Referencing his rumored drug use, one wrote, "I know you're into the White Snow but it's not about that Junior."

Another remarked, "What do you know about getting paid for a job/work. Grifting doesn't count," while another punster laughed, "I guess we know who Grumpy is."
