The Reason Alfie From Emily In Paris Looks So Familiar

Whether you loved it or hated it, or loved to hate it, the debut season of "Emily in Paris" was a smashing success. Despite some of its negative reviews, the show became Netflix's top comedy of the year, with 58 million households watching it within the first month of its release (per Good Housekeeping). Unsurprisingly, the Emmy-nominated series was given the go-ahead for another season, which premiered on December 22, 2021.

Thankfully, we finally got the answers to some of our burning questions from Season 1: What's next for the beloved employees of Savoir? How will the love triangle between our favorite 20-something Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins), chef Gabriel (played by Lucas Bravo), and his girlfriend Camille (played by Camille Razat) unfold? Season 2 tells all, and we're discussing some of the spoilers ahead!

Season 2 of "Emily in Paris" led to a whole new cast of characters arriving in the City of Light. One of the most exciting new additions to the series was Lucien Laviscount, who plays Alfie, Collin's love interest on-screen. The enemies-turned-lovers meet at French class and immediately clash (via Distractify). However, over time, the American and Brit's snarky comments toward each other gradually evolve into flirtatious banter.

Despite Emily's lingering feelings for Gabriel, Alfie and Emily ultimately become a couple — here are some fun facts about Emily Cooper's new leading man.

Lucien Laviscount's other roles

When it comes to TV shows, "Emily in Paris" was certainly not Lucien Laviscount's first rodeo. After launching his career as a model, the 29-year-old actor first hit the small screen in guest roles, starring in multiple episodes of "Grange Hill" and "Coronation Street" (via IMDb). In recent years, the British-born star has appeared as Alexander Cabot in "Katy Keene," and Earl Grey in "Scream Queens," as noted by Cosmopolitan. Laviscount has even dabbled in reality TV, starring in "Celebrity's Big Brother," and landed in fifth place on the show. To add to his impressive resume, the multi-talented performer has tried his hand in the music industry with a single called "Dance with You" (via YouTube).

While Laviscount has been around the TV show block, he couldn't be more grateful for his role in "Emily in Paris." In fact, Laviscount's experience being cast as Alfie was almost as dreamlike as finding out that you get to spend a whole year working abroad in Paris. After speaking on the phone with director Darren Starr and actress Lily Collins, they told Laviscount, "We'll be in touch," (via Harper's Bazaar). "And I got a call an hour later saying, 'You're off to Paris.' It was so quick...I was like, 'Is this normal? What's going on?' But I was really happy and so thrilled to be a part of it," Laviscount recalled.
