The Young And The Restless' Newman Family Tree Explained
Since 1980, the looming presence of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden, above right) has been at the core of CBS' "The Young and the Restless." Larger than life and powerful, Victor's romance with Nikki Reed (Melody Thomas Scott, above) led to one of the most popular couples in soap opera history, as well as the birth of the Newman clan as a premier family in the fictional Wisconsin town of Genoa City.
Patriarch Victor Newman's real name is Christian Miller and he is the son of Albert and Cora Miller, but he was abandoned by his parents at an early age, along with his brother Matt (Robert Parucha). After changing his name to Victor Newman, he founded Newman Enterprises and used his business prowess to make millions (via Soaps In Depth). He was a very wealthy man by the time he met stripper Nikki Reed, a woman he couldn't stay away from and whom he has married four times since 1984. In 2022, Victor is retired and Nikki couldn't be happier as she and Victor can vacation in Europe whenever they want. However, their various children offer a family tree of drama as future generations take center stage.
Victor and Nikki's Daughter Victoria Newman Locke
Victoria (Amelia Heinle, above)) is Victor and Nikki's first child together and wants to follow in her father's footsteps as a ruthless and powerful corporate CEO. When Victor retired, she blackmailed her father into handing her the reins at Newman Enterprises, but she also has expanded the family tree with her marriages to J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson).
Reed Hellstrom (Tristan Lake Leabu) is a teenage musician and Victoria's only son from her union with J.T., a man who abused her, but she has two other children with Billy, Katie and Johnny — although Johnny is not biologically hers and instead is really Billy's son with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). However, Chelsea gave up all rights to Johnny and Victoria adopted him, so he is thought of as a tried and true Newman. In 2021, she married Ashland Locke (then played by Richard Burgi, now Robert Newman) and brought him into the family, but he seems to be a con man and she may or may not have more children with him (via Soaps In Depth).
Victor and Nikki's son Nicholas Newman
When Victor and Nikki were divorced the first time, they had a one-night stand that resulted in the birth of Nicholas, also known as Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow, above). Fresh out of high school, Nick married Sharon Collins (Sharon Case) and she gave birth to their son, Noah Newman (Rory Gibson). Nick also adopted Sharon's daughter from a previous relationship and they raised Cassie (Camryn Grimes) and Noah together until Cassie was killed in a car accident as a teen. Eventually, Cassie's long-lost twin, Mariah Copeland, arrived in GC as an adult and she is considered an honorary member of the Newman family (via Soaps In Depth). In 2022, she plans to bring girlfriend Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) into the fold when they marry (via TV Insider). Nick and Sharon also have a younger daughter together, Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster).
Nick has another daughter named Summer (Hunter King) from his relationship with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), but Summer (per Soap Opera Network) is now living and working in Italy with her new husband, Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).
Victor's son Adam Newman
At one time, Victor was presumed dead, as soap characters often are, and he turned up on a Kansas farm and fell in love with the owner, Hope Adams (Signy Coleman). When Victor returned to town, he brought Hope with him and they eventually married. Hope gave birth to his son, whom she named Victor Newman Jr., but she divorced Victor and never told her son who his father was until she was on her deathbed, according to Soaps In Depth.
Victor Newman Jr. then changed his name to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman, above) and arrived in Genoa City with a chip on his shoulder. It was only in 2021 when he was able to forge a real relationship with his father, but his siblings, especially Victoria, still resent him. Adam expanded the family when he married Chelsea Lawson and she gave birth to his son, Connor (Judah Mackey), but Chelsea and Adam are now divorced and he is falling for Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). Perhaps they will produce yet another Newman.
Victor's daughter Abby Newman Chancellor
Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) began her life as Abby Carlton and believed that her real father was Brad Carlton (Don Diamont), who has since been killed. She learned her father was really Victor when she heard her mother, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), to whom Victor was once married, confess that she stole Victor's sperm from a sperm bank and that is how Abby came to be.
After she changed her last name to Newman, she tried to become part of the family, but is often left out of many family occasions. After a number of failed romances and one disaster of a marriage to Stitch Rayburn (Sean Carrigan), Abby finally found love with Chance Chancellor (Connor Floyd). After they married, they learned they couldn't have children the natural way, so Abby brought one more Newman into the world with the help of her friend Mariah carrying a baby made from her egg and Devon Hamilton's (Bryton James) sperm, making baby Dominic the youngest little Newman on the Genoa City scene (via Soaps In Depth).
