Charles And William Are Reportedly Preparing For Their Future Roles As King Together

Prince Charles is said to be making plans for a new-look monarchy once he ascends to the throne and becomes king, per Express. The Prince of Wales reportedly wants to slim down the firm, and leave just a handful of working royals within the fold. This will not only reduce the number of royal family members who are fully devoted to royal duties, but also save money as taxpayer money won't be given to non-working members of the firm.

Experts suggest that Charles could cut the monarchy down to only include himself, his wife Duchess Camilla, oldest son Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, Charles' brother Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, as well as Charles' sister Princess Anne. Charles' youngest son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle would have also likely been included into the mix if they hadn't exited the royal family back in 2020.

"This is really the Royal Family of the future isn't it, that's what we've got, this is it," royal expert Robert Jobson told the outlet. "They're doing a lot more together now, we see that with the Queen being supported as she was in Scotland by Charles and Camilla. They really are kind of reaffirming their numbers, aren't they," he added.

Now, a new report suggests that Charles and William are both making big plans for the monarchy as they're preparing for their roles as future king together.

Charles and William are both on board with the slimmed-down monarchy plan

Sources tell Us Weekly that Prince Charles and his oldest son Prince William are both looking toward the future, and the time when they will sit on the throne. The father and son are said to be working together in hopes of creating a plan for the future of the monarchy, which will be carried out once Charles is crowned, and continued when William later becomes king.

"William is excited about this new chapter in his life and the challenges he'll be facing," the insider stated, adding that the Duke of Cambridge will "be taking on extra duties over the next decade" to prepare him to be monarch. The duo are reportedly "working very closely" together as now that they've made "the big decision [of] making and creating a slimmed down monarchy," says the source.

"The way William and Charles see it, less people means less drama," the informant added, revealing that William wants to take a page out of his mother Princess Diana's book and be beloved by the public. "[He] has high ambitions to be known as the People's King. [He's] creating the perfect balance of being relatable to the public at the same as being a respected role model and decision-maker," the insider dished.

Only time will tell how Charles and William's preparations will change the monarchy, and if they'll be celebrated for their new and modern ideas.
