The Truth About Days Of Our Lives: Beyond Salem

"Days of Our Lives" is branching out. In 2021, the long-running NBC soap opera took advantage of the network's streaming site, Peacock, in order to bring viewers interesting new content. In addition to filming a "DOOL" Christmas movie that featured many of the cast members, the network also opted to create a spin-off series titled "Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem," per Entertainment Weekly.

"Beyond Salem" was a limited series event that featured just five episodes. However, "DOOL" fans were delighted when it was revealed that not only would the series be featuring current cast members, but also be bringing back former characters that haven't been seen in quite some time. The cast included Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans), Drake Hogestyn (John Black), Jackee Harry (Paulina Price), James Reynolds (Abe Carver), Leann Hunley (Anna DiMera), Thaao Penghlis (Tony DiMera), Victoria Konefal (Ciara Brady) Robert Scott Wilson (Ben Weston), and Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera). It also brought back Eileen Davidson as Kristen DiMera, Lisa Rinna as Billie Reed, and Charles O'Shaughnessy as Shane Donovan.

In addition, viewers also saw the returns of Christie Clark as Carrie Brady, Austin Peck as Austin Reed, Greg Rikaart as Leo Stark, and Chandler Massey as Will Horton. Actor Zachary Atticus Tinker was also introduced as the new Sonny Kiriakis, a role previously held by Freddie Smith.

Beyond Salem featured a fast-paced storyline involving stolen jewels

According to Entertainment Weekly, "Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem" took place over the course of a long weekend, which featured John Black and Marlena Evans heading to Zurich. Meanwhile, Ben Weston and Ciara Brady were in New Orleans for a romantic getaway, and Chad headed to Phoenix to visit old friends Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis. Meanwhile, Abe Carver, Paulina Price, Eli Grant, and Lani Price packed up and headed out on a family vacation to Miami. During this time, they all find themselves involved in a huge mystery involving stolen jewels.

This is where Bille Reed comes in. The ISA agent is forced to travel the globe in search of the missing treasure, as if the jewels were to end up in the wrong hands there it could mean the difference between life and death. As TV Line reported, the plot involved some major twists, including an evil twin shocker before wrapping up its five-episode arc.

Fans are now hoping that "Beyond Salem" will return for another juicy and fast-paced story sometime in the future.
