Ana De Armas' Intimate Movie Scenes With Ben Affleck Have Bennifer Fans Worried

"Deep Water," the highly-anticipated adaptation of the hit Patricia Highsmith novel of the same name, is finally due for release in March 2022. The Hulu original movie, which was directed by Adrian Lyne, of "Fatal Attraction" fame, has gradually increased in notoriety for several reasons. For one thing, it's an erotic thriller in an age when that sub-genre is essentially DOA. For another, Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck, who play the leads, fell in love on set and went on to date for a short while afterwards, only for Affleck to ultimately get back together with ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.

As Us Weekly reports, the sultry teaser trailer dropped in February. Affleck plays Vic, the unhappy husband of philandering Melinda (de Armas), who's driven to breaking point by his wife's shocking behavior. The synopsis promises a series of "dangerous mind games." It all seems like a strange setting for a real-life love affair, but Affleck and de Armas met while filming the movie in 2019 and publicly dated for much of 2020. By January 2021, though, it was all over, with a source confirming simply, "The two couldn't work through their differences and have decided to end their relationship."

In May 2021, Affleck rekindled his long-dormant relationship with Lopez and the beloved celebrity couple has been going strong ever since. But now that the full trailer for "Deep Water" has been released, fans are wondering how the superstar singer is going to feel about seeing Affleck all over his former lover.

Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck broke up after filming Deep Water

The full-length trailer for "Deep Water" is finally here, and it does not disappoint (via YouTube). The clip sees Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas engaging in a variety of sexually-charged scenarios, as Melinda flirts with other men and jealous husband Vic watches from afar while looking increasingly uncomfortable. The action culminates in the shocking death of one of her suitors, which leaves Vic shaken — but, did he have something to do with it?

Former co-stars, and exes, Affleck and de Armas have both moved on, with the "No Time to Die" actor sparking up a relationship with Tinder head honcho Paul Boukadakis, per The New York Post. An insider previously told Page Six there were no hard feelings between them, describing the breakup as "amicable" and reasoning they were at two different points in their lives. Still, it can't be easy watching them being romantic with each other, even in a movie.

Thankfully, it's entirely possible Jennifer Lopez couldn't care less about "Deep Water." In a recent chat with People, the actor and singer gushed, "I feel so lucky and happy and proud to be with him [Affleck]." Lopez added, "It's a beautiful love story that we got a second chance." With any luck, their real-life love story will surpass anything that happens onscreen with his ex.
