Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck Are Preparing For Their Future By Examining Their Past

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have one of the most interesting love stories in Hollywood. The couple met on the set of "Gigli" in 2002 and had a whirlwind romance shortly thereafter (via Us Weekly). By the end of that year, they were engaged to be married and fans couldn't get enough of the couple, who were dubbed "Bennifer" in the press. The duo set a wedding date for September 2003, however, just days before their ceremony, they announced they were calling off the wedding due to "excessive media attention" (per ABC News). In January 2004, the couple officially announced they were going their separate ways. The duo both moved on with their lives and started families with other people.

However, in spring 2021, J. Lo and Affleck dropped jaws when the news hit that they were dating again after 17 years apart. Lopez even admitted to Ellen DeGeneres that she's "in love" with Affleck again and that the couple is very happy (via YouTube). However, Lopez did reveal that she felt "a little bit of fear" about rekindling the relationship and the media scrutiny that comes with it.

Apparently, though, Lopez and Affleck have been thinking about their future, and they're determined to prevent history from repeating itself. They've already established plans to stop the media from breaking them up again as they continue to prepare for what comes next by examining what happened in the past.

Communication is key for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

Entertainment Tonight sources reveal that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez may be getting engaged ... again. The couple, known as "Bennifer," is reportedly having "ongoing conversations" about tying the knot. An insider claims that the duo has been diligent when it comes to their communication skills, and they've been open and honest with each other about everything over the last few months. This allegedly includes talking about their previous relationship and why it didn't work out for them the first time.

The couple is reportedly inspired by their first go-round, and have committed themselves to do better in their current relationship. The insider revealed that their primary focus is to "strengthen their relationship now" for their own benefit, as well as for their respective children. Affleck shares three children, Violet, Samuel, and Seraphina, with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. Lopez is the mother of twins Max and Emme with former husband Marc Anthony.

Affleck and Lopez have started to blend their family, and Garner is reportedly on board with this (via E! News). "Everyone is feeling good at this point and looking forward to the future," a source told ET. Although there is no Bennifer wedding news just yet, fans will likely be keeping a close eye on Lopez's left ring finger for any clues about a possible engagement.
