Why Bill Hader Refuses To Talk About His Relationship With Anna Kendrick

Bill Hader and Anna Kendrick might just be one of the most low-key couples around — after all, People reported that they had been dating for a year before they even went public with the news. Though they've been together for quite some time, the two still don't publicly speak on their relationship. But with such a low-key romance, how did they meet in the first place?

According to People, Hader and Kendrick first met in 2019 on the set of Disney+'s "Noelle." After the outlet broke the news that they were a couple at the start of 2022, a source added that they had been able to keep their relationship under wraps for so long due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And while it might seem unconventional for someone in the spotlight, Kendrick told The Sydney Morning Herald that she does her best to keep the details of her love life personal. "Well, as far as keeping it private, it isn't easy, as you are proving right now," Kendrick joked to the interviewer, after she was asked about her real-life relationships. "But that's just always how it's been for me." For his part, Hader recently opened up about why he refuses to talk about his romance with Kendrick.

Bill Hader's reason for keeping his love life private is so sweet

According to Us Weekly, Bill Hader and Anna Kendrick's relationship seems fairly normal, despite their A-lister status. "They hike, watch movies, hang with friends, and enjoy weekend trips away," a source told the outlet. As with any other significant other who enters a blended family situation, Kendrick has also gotten close to the "SNL" alum's children. Per InTouch Weekly, Hader shares three daughters — 12-year-old Hannah, 9-year-old Harper, and 7-year-old Hayley — with ex-wife and director Maggie Carey, to whom he was married between 2006 and 2018. Prior to coupling up with Kendrick, Hader also dated Rachel Bilson, but they broke up just six months after their relationship was made public, per PeopleWho's Dated Who? reported that Kendrick was linked to director Edgar Wright between 2009-2013, as well as to cinematographer Ben Richardson.

But perhaps Hader's previous relationship with Bilson didn't work out because of his girls. After all, protecting their privacy is the main reason he prefers not to publicly comment on his relationships. "They just want me to be their dad," Hader told The Hollywood Reporter. "They just want me to sit and watch 'Encanto' over and over and over again. So that's what I do."
