What Happened To Steffy's Twin Phoebe On The Bold And The Beautiful?
Steffy Forrester grew up with a full family of siblings, half-siblings, and step-siblings on "The Bold and the Beautiful," but there was nobody she was as close to as her twin sister Phoebe Forrester. Although Steffy and Phoebe were born identical, the soap opera's show runners changed the story when they recast the characters with actresses who had no relation to one another as older teenagers. It's one of those soap opera things fans just need to overlook, and it didn't take away from how close the sisters were.

In fact, Steffy fell off a boat when she was a small child and was presumed dead. It turned out she was kidnapped, and she was eventually reunited with her family. Sadly, life had other plans for the girls when they grew up.
Phoebe Forrester had a whole life without her sister
After a stint at boarding school, Phoebe Forrester returned to the fictional version of Los Angeles as a rebellious teen played by Mackenzie Mauzy on "The Bold and the Beautiful." While Steffy Forrester was still at school, Phoebe managed to get herself into several sticky situations. When her mother Taylor Hayes (then played by Hunter Tylo) accidentally killed Darla Einstein (Schae Harrison), Phoebe was involved in the plot to cover up the crime (via Soaps In Depth).
She also developed feelings for Rick Forrester (then played by Kyle Lowder). Her feelings were problematic because he was her uncle, though technically they weren't related by blood. Rick is the son of Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Eric Forrester (John McCook), which would make him Ridge's brother (via Soaps in Depth). However, they were not biologically related because Massimo Marone (Joseph Mascolo) is Ridge's real dad (via Soaps.com).
Despite that, a romantic involvement for Rick and Phoebe was too scandalous for the scandal-ridden Forresters to handle, so it went nowhere.
Phoebe Forrester had a music career and tragically died
While Steffy Forrester was still in boarding school, Phoebe Forrester decided she was going to be a professional singer and left on a concert tour. When she returned in 2008, she was horrified to find that her mother was in bed with Rick Forrester. The discovery officially dashed any hopes Phoebe ever had of resuming her relationship with him. At the time, Steffy finally returned from school played by Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (via Soaps In Depth). The new casting brought a formal end to the pair's tenure as identical twins.
Things got complicated between the girls when Rick entered the picture again. This time, he kissed Steffy, who had no interest in him. When Phoebe learned what happened, she confronted him. He tried to get away from her, but she followed him to his car, got in, and continued the argument. Tragically, Rick lost control of the vehicle; Phoebe was so badly injured that she died at the scene with her dad (then played by Ronn Moss) holding her (via Soaps In Depth).

Years later Steffy Forrester became a mother to her own little girl, and she wanted her baby Kelly to grow up with a sister who was close in age, according to Soaps In Depth. It wouldn't quite be the twin experience she had, but it would be close.
That wish prompted Steffy — who fashioned herself a modern, single mom — to adopt a baby girl and name her Phoebe. What she didn't know was that the adoption was illegal. The child she named Phoebe was really Beth Spencer, a baby Hope (Annika Noelle) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) were told died at birth. Viewers learned that Dr. Reese Buckingham (Wayne Brady) delivered the child and then kidnapped her to sell and earn money for his gambling debts (via Soap Central).
Although Liam and Hope — who had an interesting back-and-forth relationship involving Steffy — didn't let the girl keep the name Phoebe when Steffy learned the truth and gave her back, she is still Kelly's close-in-age sister. How did that happen? Liam is also Kelly's dad.
