Days Of Our Lives Relationship Timeline: Justin And Adrienne

The following article includes mention of miscarriage and child abuse.

"Days of Our Lives" has created some amazing characters over its more than 55-year run on daytime television. The NBC soap opera has delivered epic romances, bizarre plotlines, and intense drama throughout the decades. Of course, they're also credited for giving fans some of the most beloved super couples of all time (via CheatSheet).

"DOOL" fans have watched couples such as Bo and Hope Brady, Marlena Evans and John Black, Will Horton and Sonny Kiriakis, Ben Weston and Ciara Brady, Jennifer Horton and Jack Deveraux, Steve Johnson and Kayla Brady, and so many more have lit up the screen with their compelling and dramatic love stories.

Of course, not all couples are always front and center, and some don't last forever. However, that doesn't make them any less impactful (via Soap Hub). One such pair, Justin and Adrienne Kiriakis, is an example of a soap couple who were beloved by fans but never seemed to get their happy ending.

Justin and Adrienne got married in Greece

Adrienne Johnson (Judi Evans) first came to Salem in 1987. She was introduced to "Days of Our Lives" fans as a teenager who had been abused and ran away from home (via Soap Central). When she arrived in town she quickly bonded with Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) and met Kayla's boyfriend, Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols), who ended up being Adrienne's estranged brother. After dealing with the trauma of being abused by her father, Duke Johnson, Adrienne met Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth).

Adrienne believed Justin to be a down-to-earth construction worker but eventually discovered that he was a wealthy member of the powerful Kiriakis clan. By this time, the two had already fallen head over heels for one another. The couple got engaged and later held a lavish wedding in Greece, per Soaps in Depth. However, Adrienne was concerned about Justin's ties to his uncle Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston), and after she became pregnant, the stress of Justin's family dealings caused her to have a miscarriage. She then told her husband that he had to choose between her and Victor. Justin ultimately chose his wife and they moved out of the Kiriakis mansion.

Adrienne and Justin endured affairs and murder attempts early in their relationship

"Days of Our Lives" viewers watched as Justin and Adrienne's relationship continued to be rocky, and things got even worse after Victor was shot. Justin decided to return to the Kiriakis mansion to help Victor, but Adrienne refused to go with him. During this time, Adrienne began an affair with the Kiriakis stable hand, Emilio RamĂrez, while Justin turned to a woman named Anjelica Deveraux, who later became pregnant with his child (via Soap Central). When Justin learned of Adrienne's affair, he arranged to have Emilio murdered. However, Justin ended up being the one who was hurt during the scheme and ended up getting paralyzed as a consequence.

Justin's health crisis brought him and Adrienne back together and they worked on their marriage even after finding out that Anjelica's son, Alexander, was fathered by Justin (via Soaps in Depth). However, when Anjelica revealed that she planned to marry Victor, Justin stopped her by setting her up in an apartment instead. Adrienne worried that she would lose Justin to Anjelica and upon Victor's advice, faked a pregnancy to keep Justin. However, her plan fell through when the truth came out. Eventually, Justin and Adrienne settled their differences and were shocked when Anjelica tried to kill Adrienne in an explosion. When Anjelica's plan failed, she left Salem.

Justin and Adrienne started a family and left Salem

"Days of Our Lives" viewers finally got to see Justin and Adrienne find happiness when they remarried and were ready to start a family. Sadly, Adrienne struggled to get pregnant but the couple was thrilled when their housekeeper offered to allow them to adopt her twins (via Soaps in Depth). After a custody battle with the twins' father, Justin and Adrienne legally adopted the boys and named them Joseph and Victor Jr. Later, Adrienne was overjoyed when she became pregnant and the pair welcomed their only biological child together, Jackson, who goes by the nickname Sonny.

After all of the drama of their past, Justin and Adrienne decided that they needed to start a new chapter in their lives and opted to leave Salem (via Soap Central). The couple took their children and moved to Texas to start their own construction company. Before leaving, they reconciled with Justin's uncle Victor, and Justin even reunited with his oldest son, Alexander.

Justin and Adrienne held their third wedding in Las Vegas

"Days of Our Lives" viewers didn't see Adrienne and Justin for much of the '90s, but Adrienne returned to Salem in 2007 after finding out that her brother Steve had amnesia. While back home, Adrienne bought a bar she named The Cheatin' Heart (via Soap Central). However, after just one year in Salem, she and her family moved to Dubai with Justin when he got a promising job opportunity. In 2010, Adrienne came home to Salem again after separating from Justin.

This time, Justin was already back home and had fallen in love with Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso). Adrienne decided that she wanted to fight for her marriage, but Justin seemed interested in connecting with Hope. Meanwhile, Hope did not reciprocate Justin's feelings and urged him to reunite with Adrienne. Justin and Adrienne divorced, but they did end up back together and even married for the third time in Las Vegas, per Soaps in Depth.

Shortly after the couple returned home from Vegas, their youngest son, Jackson (aka Sonny), also came home. During this time, Sonny came out as gay and met Will Horton (Chandler Massey). The two fell in love and eventually tied the knot. Although Justin and Adrienne had reconnected, Justin's work in Dubai proved to be a big problem for the couple.

Justin and Adrienne's love story ended in tragedy

As Justin traveled back and forth to Dubai, Adrienne began to get lonely and started spending time with Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo). Eventually, their friendship turned into stronger feelings, although they tried to hide it. Justin became suspicious of their connection and decided to work harder on his marriage, but when it was revealed that he had an affair, Adrienne immediately turned to Lucas and the two got romantic, per Soap Central. Lucas and Adrienne eventually got engaged, but on the day of their wedding, Justin crashed the ceremony. Justin and Adrienne reunited again and decided to hold their fourth wedding.

The pair opted to have a double wedding with Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) this time around. After the ceremony, Jennifer was pushed from a balcony and ended up in a coma. Jennifer was in a coma for a year, and when she woke up she learned that Adrienne had been killed in a car accident, seemingly ending her and Justin's love story for good (via Soaps in Depth).

Although Adrienne passed away, actress Judi Evans returned to "Days of Our Lives" in the role of Adrienne's doppelgänger Bonnie Lockhart. Bonnie eventually fell for Justin and the two ended up married. Since "DOOL" fans are used to seeing characters return from the dead, viewers can't help but wonder if there's a way that Adrienne will make her way back to Salem in the future.
