The Decision Kris Jenner Made That Completely Broke Her Grandchildren's Hearts

Travis Barker proposed to Kourtney Kardashian in October 2021, following years of friendship and a whirlwind romance, as Page Six confirmed at the time.

The Blink 182 drummer popped the question surrounded by rose petals and white candles at the luxurious Rosewood Miramar Beach hotel in Montecito, California. Kourtney shared several sweet photos from the occasion on Instagram, captioning them simply "forever." Naturally, Kourtney's famous family members were there to celebrate with her, too.

Following the lavish proposal, an insider informed People that the Poosh founder wasn't expecting it all. However, the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan was briefed and dutifully kept it a secret until the big day.

"They often stay at the hotel. This is why Travis proposed there. It's a very special place to them, but it was also easier to keep everything a secret by proposing there," the source explained.

Now, an episode of their new show, "The Kardashians," has shed further light on how it all went down — and why one decision by Kris Jenner may have soured the experience for Kourtney.

Kris Jenner prevented Kourtney's kids from attending her proposal

Travis Barker's lavish beachside proposal is covered in depth on the latest episode of "The Kardashians." But, amidst all the happy moments, People reports that Kourtney Kardashian's children, Mason, Penelope, and Reign Disick, were prevented from attending the event, much to their mother's obvious distress.

"I do wish that my kids were here," Kourtney admitted in a confessional. "I think it would've made them feel more included in the decision and part of the surprise." The Poosh founder acknowledged it was momager Kris Jenner's decision, and she arguably made the wrong one.

The Kardashian-Jenner family extensively discussed including Kourtney's three children, with Kris being the most vocal opponent. "Listen, for us to have to lie to Scott [Disick] and get them here under false pretenses would've been really hard for all of us," Kris argued.

She added that leaving them out of it was the correct choice. Khloé Kardashian worried her sister's baby daddy was going to take the news hard, but she wasn't convinced about excluding the children, either.

Sadly, when Kourtney did call daughter Penelope, she cried and hung up the phone. Reign, meanwhile, had no interest, while Mason didn't even answer, as Us Weekly notes.

Kourtney has an incredibly strong relationship with her kids, so she no doubt took it hard. They do adore Barker, though, with a source telling Life & Style that the punk rocker is always brainstorming fun activities for them.
