Kate Middleton Stuns In A Monochrome Ensemble For Garter Day
It's no secret that Kate Middleton is a fashion icon, with many of the items she wears often selling out within minutes — something known as "the Kate effect." In fact, designer Matthew Williamson told Marie Claire how his brand "sold out of everything we had" after Middleton was photographed in one of its dresses.
And when royal watchers weren't talking about her reaction to Prince Louis' behavior during Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee, they were marveling over all of Middleton's gorgeous ensembles. She blew everyone away in a stunning white dress by Alexander McQueen at Trooping the Colour, and accessorized the look with a sapphire and diamond necklace and earrings that belonged to her mother-in-law, Princess Diana, per Express. Throughout the festivities, the Duchess of Cambridge was seen in "a Emilia Wickstead yellow dress, an Eponine London red wool coat, a Self-Portrait chiffon midi dress and a Stella McCartney custom pink dress," according to Women's Wear Daily. Data from fashion e-commerce aggregator Lovethesales showed that during the Jubilee, searches for Middleton's fashion choices surged a whopping 400%!
"Many of the things that we see the Duchess of Cambridge doing today are things that she's learned from the queen," royal expert Bethan Holt told Us Weekly, adding Kate uses color and "different symbols to send messages" just like Elizabeth. And while the Jubilee is over, Kate continues to get attention for her stellar fashion choices.

Collins & Sons tanzanite pendant necklace and matching earrings, according to Daily Mail.
Middleton was photographed with her husband, Prince William, as well as Prince Edward's wife, Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, who wore a pink ensemble by Valentino. Most senior members of the royal family were in attendance for the important event, which happens every June. There, Queen Elizabeth invests "any new Companions with the Order's insignia in the Throne Room of the Castle," and then hosts a celebratory lunch, according to the royal website.
However, there was one family member who wasn't at the ceremony: Prince Andrew. Although it had been reported that the disgraced prince would be in attendance, sources reported that Prince William threatened to pull out of the event if his uncle was there. "The Duke of Cambridge was adamant. If York insisted on taking part publicly, he would withdraw," a source told the Evening Standard.
