Body Language Expert Reveals An Interesting Perspective On Vladimir Putin's Health

Many tabloids have run stories about Putin's possible health problems, with one British gossip magazine running a story on their front cover about the Russian leader having terminal cancer (via The Scotsman). These claims have not been backed up by any medical reports, but that hasn't stopped more rumors from swirling about the Kremlin's health.

Other news outlets have speculated that Putin might be suffering from Parkinson's. The different theories surrounding Putin's health have led to an official statement from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who said, "You know, President Putin appears in public every day. You can see him on the screens, read his speeches, listen to his speeches," adding, "I don't think sane people can discern any sort of symptom of disease in this man" (per Politico).

This denial from Putin's team hasn't stopped the public from theorizing what kind of illness he could possibly be suffering from. Now, a body language expert has given their perspective on what could be wrong with the Russian leader.

Body language from Putin has many believing he is sick

According to Newsweek, Vladimir Putin was treated for cancer in April — at least that's what was written in a classified U.S. report. A senior intelligence officer stated, "Putin's grip is strong but no longer absolute," continuing, "The jockeying inside the Kremlin has never been more intense during his rule, everyone sensing that the end is near."

While the Russian leader and his team have not formally stated to the public that Putin had treatment for cancer, speculation is still running wild about the possible decline in his health. So much so that a body language expert weighed in on the topic.

Putin was recently seen firmly gripping a table for support, with all of the veins on his hand bulging as a result (via Metro UK). After seeing this image, body language expert Professor Erik Bucy of Texas Tech University gave his opinion.

Bucy told The Sun, "This is not a portrait of a healthy Putin but one appearing increasingly feeble and barely able to hold himself upright at a small conference table." He added, "Putin's legs also appear quite thin, as if he may be suffering from weight or muscle loss from an unannounced malady. Bloating in his face reinforces an unhealthy appearance, especially compared to photographs and video of the Russian premier from a few years ago."

For Bucy, it is clear the Kremlin is suffering from some sort of illness. Only time will tell if the public will be made aware of his health concerns.
