Sydney Mikayla Reveals What She's Really Been Up To Since Leaving General Hospital Behind

Soap actress Sydney Mikayla's emotional exit from "General Hospital" was felt by fans everywhere. Her last scenes in March 2022 as assertive, honest, and dependable Trina Robinson oozed the spark that made her such a well-loved character in the first place, per She Knows Soaps. But Mikayla traded "life in Port Charles" for an even more rewarding journey: immersing herself in student life at the University of California, Los Angeles, reports Soap Opera Network.

Mikayla left Trina in more than capable hands (as she is currently portrayed by actress Tabyana Ali). In a statement to Soap Opera Digest, the two-time Emmy nominated soap star opened up about her time on "Genera Hospital" and her decision to shift her focus to the college experience. "I have loved working on GENERAL HOSPITAL, but I feel like this is the right time to dive in and enjoy my college experience to the fullest," Mikayla explained. "The cast has become family and bringing the character of Trina to life has been one of the best experiences of my career thus far."

Her leaving hasn't stopped her from showing support and showering her "GH" family with love on Twitter. Since Mikayla's departure, she has been busy enjoying her time off to the fullest, including parasailing with her dad and picking up Emmy nominations

Mikayla made her presence known on the legendary soap opera. Now, Mikayla is blessing our screens in another way.

Sydney Mikayla is joining an iconic TV franchise

"General Hospital" is not the last that fans will hear from Sydney Mikayla. Though she's taken a step back from the soap world, the "Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts" star's voice acting career is flourishing. Mikayla took to Twitter to announce that she's joining the Nickelodeon family this fall.

In a July 22 tweet, Mikayla revealed that she snagged a lead role in Paramount Plus' animated series "Transformers: Earthspark," writing, "Ahhhhh! Excited to finally share! So proud to be a part of @Nickelodeon 's new series – Transformers #Earthspark! Streaming this fall on @paramountplus."

Per Just Jared Jr., Mikayla plays Robbie Malto, a young boy whose entire life is uprooted when his family moves and is forever changed when he discovers Transformers robots. Fans rushed to congratulate her on the exciting news. One user tweeted about the importance of this groundbreaking role, writing, "That is awesome!! What an iconic animation to be in. Omg, so happy for you!"

In her reply, Mikayla acknowledged with a simple, "Iconic indeed!" Another user tweeted their support of her new role, writing, "Congratulations Sydney. I miss you on GH and am looking forward to watching Transformers. Best of luck in college and everything you do."
