All The Actors Who Played The Bold And The Beautiful's Rick Forrester

Following Brooke Logan's (Katherine Kelly Lang) failed relationship with Ridge Forrester (then Ronn Moss) in 1990, the infamous "The Bold and the Beautiful" character found comfort in the arms of his father Eric Forrester (John McCook), per Soap Central. Her relationship with the Forrester patriarch resulted in the birth of her son Eric "Rick" Forrester Jr., with child actors Jeremy Snider (Lang's real-life son) and Steven Hartman portraying Rick as a little boy and young teen (which was no easy feat due to the character's troubled childhood). Not only did Rick shoot his mother's fiancé Grant Chambers and then block out the memory, but he was also extensively bullied when his half-brother Ridge became his new step-father (via Soaps in Depth). Still, it's been Rick's adult life that has managed to entertain viewers for decades.

Since Rick was rapidly aged in the late 90s, the character has become known for his long-standing rivalry with Ridge, who was thought to be the son of Eric and Stephanie Forrester for most of his life. Rick's jealousy over their father's favoritism of Ridge only grew stronger when it was revealed that Ridge had actually been fathered by Massimo Marone and wasn't a true Forrester after all. When Rick set out to seduce Ridge's ex-wife Taylor Hayes and both of his daughters Phoebe and Steffy — after realizing they weren't biological related, of course — their relationship deteriorated even further. Here are the actors who have brought these fascinating storylines to life over the years.

Jacob Young (1995-1997, 2011-2018)

Jacob Young was a brand new actor when he joined the cast of "The Bold and the Beautiful" in 1997 as Rick Forrester. As a recently-minted young adult, Rick's first major storyline was slightly disturbing, but not entirely surprising considering his upbringing. His mother, Brooke Logan, had hired a live-in babysitter named Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz) to watch over his younger sister Bridget, and he promptly started a scandalous affair with her (via Soap Central). Rick's relationship with the nanny eventually turned serious and the two married. Amber later got pregnant, though tragically their son was stillborn.

Young left the soap after a few years, but continued to appear on daytime. From 2000 to 2003 he played Lucky Spencer on "General Hospital," and starred as JR Chandler on "All My Children" from 2003 to 2011, before returning to "B&B" to reprise his first role. He has been nominated for Daytime Emmys for all of his soap roles, winning once for his work as Lucky. Though two others portrayed Rick during Young's hiatus, he is the longest-running and most recognizable actor to play the character.

In the seven years after his return, Rick bounced back and forth between Caroline Spencer II and Maya Avant, both of whom he was married to for a time, per Soaps in Depth. Rick and Maya share a child named Lizzie Forrester who was born via surrogacy in 2016. In 2018, the little family moved overseas, though Maya briefly returned home to tell their loved ones they were getting a divorce. Rick hasn't been seen on-screen in a few years, but there's always a chance that he'll pop back up unexpectedly — played by Young or someone else.

Justin Torkildsen (1999-2006)

It was a surprise to some viewers that the role of Rick Forrester was recast with a then-unknown actor following Jacob Young's departure from "The Bold and the Beautiful" in 1999. However, Justin Torkildsen managed to prove his talent and remained on the show for seven years. In 2001, he won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series and was nominated again the following year. Though he doesn't have a ton of acting credits to his name, he did go on to appear on the 2020 soap web series "Studio City" created by his "B&B" co-star Sean Kanan.

During Torkildsen's time as Rick, the character began to get involved with the family business Forrester Creations, only furthering the drama between himself, his father Eric, and brother Ridge (via Soaps). He also supported his wife Amber Moore through the loss of another pregnancy and a stint in rehab, though they eventually got divorced when she cheated on him with Lance (Adam Huss). Eventually Rick left town on business, and when he returned to Los Angeles, he had a new face.

Kyle Lowder (2007-2011)

When Rick Forrester came back to LA in 2007, he was portrayed by actor Kyle Lowder. Prior to "The Bold and the Beautiful," Lowder had experience on "Days of Our Lives" playing Brady Black from 2002 to 2005, for which he earned a Daytime Emmy nomination. After his successful stint on "B&B," he returned to "DOOL" in 2018 as a new character Rex Brady.

Lowder's version of Rick was particularly dastardly as this was the time period in which he began to date his brother's daughter, Phoebe Forrester (MacKenzie Mauzy), per Soaps in Depth. However, when Phoebe refused to have sex with him, he cheated on her with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), and then seduced her mother, Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo). Later, Rick was involved in a car accident that resulted in Phoebe's death and following the tragedy he turned his sights on her twin sister, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood). When Rick's twisted revenge plot against Ridge was finally revealed, Rick was outcast by everyone he knew and took off to Paris to lick his wounds, later returning with Jacob Young back in the role.
