How Chelsea Clinton Met Her Husband, Marc Mezvinsky
It's well known that politicians and their families are treated like celebrities. Everyone wants to know all the ins and outs of their relationships, careers, and family life. Chelsea Clinton's life is no exception. She is the only child of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Clinton was raised in front of the public eye. So, everybody has certainly had the privilege of seeing her stunning transformation.
Instead of running from the public, Clinton has made a life for herself as a writer and global health advocate after attending Stanford University for a bachelor's degree in history and then the University of Oxford for her Doctor of Philosophy degree in international relations. She's also worked with McKinsey & Company and NBC and serves on the board of the School of American Ballet.
But despite all of Clinton's achievements, there is one that sticks out — the building of her family with her husband, Marc Mezvinsky. And of course, everyone wants a peek inside Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky's marriage.
Their love story
Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky have been married since July 31st, 2010, but their love story obviously didn't start there. Mezvinsky, like Clinton, is from a politician's family. His father was a former Iowa congressman and his mother was a former Pennsylvania congresswoman. From the start, the couple had a lot in common and they hit it off quickly when they first met at a Democratic political retreat in South Carolina as teenagers in 1993.
When Clinton was first visiting colleges and deciding her future, Mezvinsky gave her a campus tour around Stanford University, which he attended then. They remained good friends as both dated other people and focused on their studies. After Clinton and her former boyfriend ended a four-year-long relationship, Mezvinsky and her started dating each other within that same year. The smitten couple announced their engagement via email to their friends and family. Clinton's parents were ecstatic and ready to welcome Mezvinsky in as a part of their family.
Despite their religious differences, with Clinton being raised Methodist and Mezvinsky being raised Jewish, the two made it work and continue to do so.
Where they are now
Clinton and Mezvinsky have always been known to show affection in public and not much has changed three kids later. The two started having children in 2014 and since then have had one daughter and two sons. The family of five lives in New York City between Madison Avenue and Fifth Avenue.
Mezvinsky currently works as the managing director at Texas Pacific Group or TPG Inc., a private equity firm. Clinton, on the other hand, is juggling multiple projects and continuing her dream as a writer. She is the author of five children's books. In 2021, she also began a podcast entitled, "In Fact with Chelsea Clinton," which discusses everything surrounding public health.
The couple and their kids, enjoy spending time with Bill and Hillary in the summer months. In fact, one summer, they worked together to plant a garden. However, not every day is picturesque. Some days the jobs of working parents can affect home life, "the dishes may not get done until right before dinner or maybe not even until after dinner for the whole day, and that's okay," Clinton tells People. Though despite those busy days, Clinton and Mezvinsky are still smitten and equally in love with their children.
