How Madison Prewett's Life Was Affected By The Bachelor

It feels like just yesterday that the contestants for Peter Weber's season of The Bachelor were being announced. That was months ago, though, and we're living in a whole new world in which Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have stepped back as senior members of the royal family, a coronavirus pandemic is sweeping the world, and Peter is very, very single.

While Peter's life is no doubt different following his journey on The Bachelor, things are even more changed for his ex, Madison Prewett. After she self-eliminated on the show, Peter proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss, only to break off his engagement citing his unresolved feelings for Madison. Just days after this all came out, though, Peter announced that he and Madi were calling it quits.

"Madi and I have mutually decided to not pursue our relationship any further," the Bachelor wrote on Instagram. "Believe me this was not easy for either of us to be ok with, but after a lot of honest conversations, we have agreed that this is what makes most sense for the two of us. The love and respect I have for Madi will continue to endure."

Madison Prewett has become a social media star

The season put Madison, a recent college grad and foster parent recruiter, at the center of a media frenzy. She's made the most of it though, and seems to be setting herself up for a career as a social media personality. It looks like she's already landed an agent, based on an Instagram post from public relations specialist Lori Krebs who posted about Madison right after The Bachelor finale. "You really get to see ones true character in the toughest of times," she wrote. "You're the epitome of a class act."

This drew criticism from former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, who told Extra that she thought Madison was only in it for the followers. "It doesn't make any sense," she said. "You come on the show because you have these morals and these values and you stay true to them... So Peter decides he wants to spend his life with another woman... then dumps her... and you take him back after that? It doesn't add up. The only thing that makes sense is you want the TV time... and to top it all off, she has already hired an agent."

While Madison has kept a fairly low profile since the finale and hasn't made any major announcements, it's true that appearing on The Bachelor gave her a major social media boost. According to Morning Consult, when Madison was first announced as a contestant last September, she had 7,182 Instagram followers. Months later, she has 1.9 million.

Has Madison Prewett moved on from Peter Weber?

What's next for Madison? Only time will tell. It's possible that we'll see her star on Bachelor in Paradise or perhaps as a future Bachelorette — that is, if she isn't already taken. During an Instagram Live with former Bachelorette contestants Connor Saeli and Mike Johnson (per Reddit), Connor hinted that he and Madison might be a couple. When asked about potentially pursuing a relationship with Madi, Connor said, "Maybe. I can't answer that."

Cosmopolitan added that, when pressed about it, Connor continued to give cagey answers, finally saying, "Dude. I can't give you anything."
