Sofia Vergara Looks Wildly Different Rocking Her Natural Hair Color

Columbian actor Sofia Vergara moved to the U.S. in the late '90s and started working in the entertainment industry on Spanish programming before landing her first English-speaking role in the early 2000s (via NBC). Vergara, who rose to stardom on the hit ABC sitcom "Modern Family," has become known for her signature dark brown locks. But she rocked her natural blond hair during her early years in the industry and basically looked like a completely different person in photos taken from that time.

In a 2024 interview with People, the "Griselda" star explained why she dyed her hair brown. "The way that I looked was not the way that Hollywood really saw Latina women. They were expecting a more dark-haired woman. It was difficult because they were a little confused, like, 'This woman sounds like a Latin woman but she's blonde,'" Vergara said. It was a difficult decision for her, but it ultimately paid off and helped her land her "Modern Family" role.

"At the end of the day, it was hair. It was not like I was cutting my fingers off," the comedian quipped.

Sofia Vergara's beauty routine is purposefully simple

Sofia Vergara may have gone through a huge transformation since the early aughts, but her darker hair is the only indication that any time has passed. The "America's Got Talent" judge has been open about her beauty routine. In a 2019 interview with Who What Wear, she said that she has rosacea, so she considers her skin sensitive and uses simple products on it. She said it's a huge change from her previous philosophy on beauty, when she used to try every new trend on the market.

As for her feelings on plastic surgery, Vergara told Allure in 2024 that she hasn't gone under the knife yet, but she's not opposed to it. "I feel like I'm going to do every plastic surgery that I can do when I'm ready. I wish I had more downtime; I would've done stuff already. [But] because I'm in front of the camera, it's not like I can do something and then sit in my house recuperating for weeks." She admitted that she has been using Botox on her neck and around her eyes in the past, but she thinks she's too old for fillers. "I feel filler does good when you're really young and you want a little bit more cheeks or to plump your lips a little bit. At my age — 51 — I feel it's not going to make you look younger. It is going to make you look more done," she said.
