Trump Secretary Pete Hegseth Was Brutally Called Out By His Own Mother
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth — a man with a history of misconduct allegations and bad behavior — was once put in his place by none other than his own mom. Following his legal battle with his ex-wife, Samantha Hegseth, truths about the pair's marriage came to light that his mom apparently could no longer ignore. A 2018 email from Pete's mother, Penelope Hegseth, was obtained by The New York Times and spoke volumes: "Is there any sense of decency left in you?" she wrote to her son.
Penelope's brutal callout outlined deep shame for her son's actions and disgust for the man he had become. "You are an abuser of women — that is the ugly truth and I have no respect for any man that belittles, lies, cheats, sleeps around, and uses women for his own power and ego," she wrote. "You are that man (and have been for years) and as your mother, it pains me and embarrasses me to say that, but it is the sad, sad truth." She also admitted in the email that "as a woman and your mother I feel I must speak out." Penelope went on to say that she wasn't looking for a rebuttal from her son. "I don't want to debate with you," she wrote. "You twist and abuse everything I say anyway."
Pete's mother was not the only one to speak out about his behavior
Penelope Hegseth added at the end of her email to Pete Hegseth, "On behalf of all the women (and I know it's many) you have abused in some way, I say ... get some help and take an honest look at yourself." It seems she had a very strong point. Pete Hegseth has a long history of controversial behaviors, including sexual assault allegations from 2017. Another relative, Danielle Hegseth, the ex-wife of Pete's brother, publicly called out Pete's behavior as well. Prior to his nomination, Danielle shared a lengthy statement to the Senate Armed Services Committee, which was obtained by The Washington Post.
She detailed Samantha Hegseth's plan to secretly run away from Pete should he continue his trend of violence and aggression. This plan was revealed to Danielle by Samantha after an alleged dispute between the married couple that led to Samantha hiding in her closet for safety. Danielle further described Pete's unsavory actions, writing, "I was myself a witness to and even a victim of emotional abuse by Hegseth." The statement from Pete's ex-sister-in-law and email from his mother added to the Defense Secretary's already lengthy history of destructive and offensive behaviors that riddled Hegseth's career since his days on Fox News.
