Awkward Scarlett Johansson & Colin Jost Moments That Hint Their Marriage Is On The Rocks

Are a certain comedian and his movie star wife on a nonstop train to splitsville? An awkward moment caught on camera between Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson has fans concerned, and this wouldn't be the only red flag in their marriage. Things got a little testy in a clip of the couple walking to their seats at the 2025 Primetime Emmy Awards, which subsequently went viral on X. In the video, Jost stopped to talk with someone while Johansson held onto his hand and tried to keep moving forward, eventually managing to pull him back after about 15 seconds. Could this be an indication of underlying tension? Fortunately, we have an expert to break it all down.

According to Nicole Moore, a celebrity love coach and body language expert, "It appears as if Colin Jost and Scarlett Johansson may have a bit of a power struggle in their relationship." Moore picked up on a lot of the couple's dynamic in this one short clip, saying, "As the pair walked down the aisle, Scarlett tugged on Colin to continue walking forward, which could indicate that she likes to take the lead in the relationship." However, Moore observed that Jost planted his feet firmly on the ground with a stiff back, showing he's confident in asserting his independence.

Even if Johansson and Jost are not always on the same page, that does not necessarily mean they're drifting away from each other. "Toward the end of the clip, Colin is smiling wide and doesn't look annoyed at all, so it's possible that he wasn't upset that his wife was rushing him along but rather accepts her as she is." That note of acceptance is an important one, because this is far from the first awkward moment in this celebrity marriage.

Johansson and Jost have been uncomfortable on camera before

Perhaps the most notorious example of an uncomfortable moment between Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost happened during the December 21, 2024, episode of "Saturday Night Live" (which was just one of many painfully awkward moments in "SNL" history). Jost and his "Weekend Update" co-anchor Michael Che have a recurring bit called "Joke Swap," in which they read outrageous jokes written by the other. Johansson was in the studio for the episode, so Che could not resist forcing his partner to deliver some incredibly off-color jokes about his wife, such as detailing the condition of her private parts after giving birth.

However, Johansson got the last laugh when she sat in for the next edition of "Joke Swap" in May 2025, forcing Che to apologize and admit the love he has for Jost. It was all part of the gag, but it somehow came off rather sincere as well. After all, Jost and Che are close friends off-camera.

Bizarrely enough, maybe embracing the awkwardness is part of how Jost and Johansson make it all work. Nicole Moore has some hope for the two of them, musing, "In terms of the power dynamic, it actually might be a good thing that Colin appears to stand his ground with Scarlett rather than just yielding to her wishes or demands. As Scarlett is one of the highest paid actresses, other men who earn less might feel intimidated by her, but from their body language, it looks like Colin feels he can hold his own with her."
