Trump Hints Ballroom Construction Annoys Melania & We're Skeptical For One Big Reason
Donald Trump's ballroom ego project has been amping up the grifter allegations for months now. Yet, his latest comments about the controversial ballroom construction are ushering in some new accusations. He may be using this project to twist the truth about his marriage.
At a March 2 Medal of Honor ceremony, Donald launched into a tangent about the ballroom he's having built in the East Wing of the White House. Unsurprisingly, he was sure to mention, "I believe it's going to be the most beautiful ballroom anywhere in the world" (via Mother Jones). Then he made a comment about the noise the construction apparently causes for nearly 20 hours a day that gave some folks pause. "When I hear that beautiful sound behind me, it means money, so I like it," he said. "But my wife isn't thrilled."
It's interesting that Donald would claim Melania is bothered by the construction sounds. Of course, most people would be bothered if there was loud hammering nearby from the early morning hours until late at night. Yet this implies Melania is actually living at the White House, and that definitely isn't likely. Melania Trump reportedly stays away from The White House as much as she can, spending plenty of time in both New York City and at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. Still, it's easy to see why the Trumps might not want to draw attention to this fact; it would fuel those perpetual divorce rumors even more.
Melania Trump reportedly wants to spend even less time in D.C. than she already does
In her documentary "Melania," the FLOTUS called Mar-a-Lago her "refuge from the outside world" and referred to it as "more than a home," per USA Today. So, it's safe to assume Melania spends as much time as she can in Palm Beach. To make matters worse for the optics of the Trumps' marriage, in February, a source told the Naughty But Nice Substack, "Melania is a New York woman," and consequently, she's planning on making it her home base, while continuing to travel to Mar-a-Lago. This leaves even less time for her to spend at the White House, which apparently is a plus for Melania. The source said, "D.C. was always temporary in her mind."
While Melania may be making a more permanent move to NYC, it doesn't seem like her absence from the White House is new. During an appearance on the "Daily Beast Podcast" nearly a year ago, author Michael Wolff explained that Donald and Melania "live separate lives" (via Stylecaster). There is no shortage of possible reasons why Donald and Melania stay together even if they have long been separated. And it's likely important to Donald that they appear as a united president and first lady. With all this evidence, though, is the hammering at the White House really keeping Melania up at night? We're not buying it.
