Karoline Leavitt's Comment About 'Well-Read' Trump Has Everyone Calling BS

Time and time again, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has accidentally exposed just how Trump-obsessed she really is. Yet, this time, her perspective on Donald Trump had everyone laughing. While speaking to students at George Washington University for a Turning Point USA event on April 2, Leavitt described the controversial president in a way no one expected. Unsurprisingly, people weren't buying it.

"... You always want to be the most well-read person in the room, and I try to be every day," the press secretary told the crowd, per X, formerly known as Twitter. Unfortunately, she added, "But, Donald Trump always is." It was as if Leavitt realized that claiming to be the most well-read person in the room might seem like she's better than Trump at something, which the president's fragile ego couldn't take, so she pivoted mid-sentence. "That man does not miss a story — let me tell you. He's always reading the papers and watching the TV. He doesn't miss anything anyone says in the whole world," she said.

This assertion was funny for a few reasons. For starters, there have long been rumors that Trump actually can't read. Furthermore, this contradicts the times that Trump has played dumb about the news for his advantage. Back in September, for example, Trump was MIA one weekend as rumors of his death ran rampant. Then, at a press conference, he said, "I had heard that, but I didn't hear it to that extent" (via WGME). Missing those rumors would have been impossible for someone who's always aware of the news.

Netizens definitely aren't buying what Karoline Leavitt is selling about Donald Trump

The strangeness of Karoline Leavitt's out-of-place tangent about Donald Trump's thirst for knowledge wasn't lost on many social media users who saw a clip of her statement make the rounds online. "How does he get people to act like this for him?" someone asked alongside the clip. The comment section was filled with plenty of hypothetical explanations, from bribery to blackmail and shared secrets.

Other commenters simply noted how odd Leavitt's words about Trump really were. "Anyone who interviews Karoline Leavitt for a job in the future needs to ask her 'have you ever publicly implied that you're dumber than Donald Trump.' Just to weed her out right away," one X user joked. One commenter posted an image of Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham" with the caption, "The type of books that make Trump more 'well-read.'" Another netizen simply wrote, "In the history of s*** that never happened, this never happened the most," regarding the press secretary's claim.

Suffice it to say, most people didn't believe Leavitt's assertion that, despite her best efforts, she can never be more well-read than Trump. Ironically, it seems that the mere suggestion of this has had the opposite effect of what she'd hoped.
