Fox News Footage Reveals The Car Ride That Ended It All For Pam Bondi (With A Sly Hint She Was In Denial)

Life comes at you fast, but evidently not fast enough to evade the Fox News camera crew. Former Attorney General Pam Bondi was all smiles in pics taken just one day before her firing, but a short segment on Fox's "Special Report" with anchor Trey Gowdy suggests there was a lot hiding behind her grin.

The report, aired on April 2, highlighted a short clip of President Donald Trump and the AG riding through Washington together the day before, claiming that the pair "talked about the possibility of her leaving DOJ" on the trip. The segment further inferred that the photos of Bondi smiling a few hours later were hiding the fact that "she knew what might be coming." Maybe the attorney truly was as thrilled as she claimed to be in her post on X, reflecting on her time at the DOJ as the honor of a lifetime." However, it's a far cry from the Daily Mail's report that the car ride was less than pleasant. A source told the outlet, "She was unhappy and tried to change his mind."  Bondi has been known to have some embarrassing public breakdowns, but she's seemingly kept her cool this time around.

The Wall Street Journal also reported that the president ended her AG run during the drive with four simple words: "I think it's time." Fox may feel the same way, as their coverage featured a rare critical edge.

Is Fox News severing its ties with the Trump admin?

Fox News' sly jab at former AG Pam Bondi regarding her denial of her firing was uncharacteristic to say the least, considering how the network has had close ties to the president since his first term. Many members of the current Trump admin (left standing) also have ties to the network, such as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, whose time at Fox News was haunted by controversy.

Bondi herself even appeared as a co-host on Fox's "The Five", although her three-day spot in 2018 had already brought about an embarrassing mini-scandal. While the network's "LiveNow" segment did highlight Donald Trump's claim that "We love Pam," it remained bipartisan. The segment was rounded off with posts from Democratic members of Congress insisting that Bondi will still be forced to testify for her mishandling of the Jeffrey Epstein files at the Oversight Committee.

A rift between Fox and Trump had been forming since the start of his second term, with The Hill reporting days before the November 2024 elections that the president claimed the network was "NOT OUR FRIEND." Trump further explained, "FoxNews keeps putting on Democrat ads, as part of their news program," an allegation that would have been unheard of during Trump's first term. The network further caught some fire from the president on March 26 for their "terrible" polls reflecting low approval ratings (via The Hill). If the network is forced to choose between an allegiance to their audience or the administration, who will they choose?
