Photos Of Jami Gertz Before And After Embracing Her Stunning Gray Hair Transformation

One of the biggest young stars of the 1980s, Jami Gertz had fans crushing on her as the vampire Star in "The Lost Boys" and troubled model Blair in "Less Than Zero." By the 1990s, Gertz moved into more adult roles, becoming Julia Louis-Dreyfus' bathroom stall nemesis in a classic episode of "Seinfeld." After starring on "Still Standing" for four seasons, Gertz took a step back from acting, appearing in just a handful of movies and shows in the 20 years since the series ended. But when the "Solarbabies" star popped up at an August 2025 screening of "Magic City: An American Fantasy," her fans were happy to see that not only was she still as beautiful as ever, but she was happily embracing her age and showing off her gray hair (seen below-right). The look was a departure from a few years earlier, at an event in 2019, when her tresses were all dark (seen below-left).

While many actors work to hide their aging, Gertz isn't afraid to show off her natural hair, joining the likes of other stunning gray-haired celebrities like Andie MacDowell and Kelly Hu. The gray streaks only serve to accentuate just how beautiful Gertz is, framing her face that still has the same smile that made audiences swoon 40 years ago.

As of writing, Gertz hasn't acted since 2022. Unlike other famous celebs who left Hollywood behind, she found a new path in the industry. Admitting to the Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that, "You reach an age, and you slow down, and the jobs are a little hard to come by," Gertz took it upon herself to work behind the camera. She became a producer, first for 2011's Academy Award-nominated movie "A Better Life", and later for the docuseries "Magic City" and the documentary "Phoenix Jones: The Rise and Fall of a Real Life Superhero."

While many celebrities find a new career creating their own brand of cosmetics, Jami Gertz went in a different direction and purchased an NBA team with her husband, Tony Ressler, in 2015. The decision to buy the Atlanta Hawks didn't come easy, as Gertz recalled to the Hollywood Reporter: "I'm like, 'I don't know. I'm so scared.' And he's like, 'It would be so much fun!' And then we were jumping and screaming, 'Oh my God — we just bought a basketball team!'"

Gertz's husband has become well-known for his smart investing strategies that have made him and his wife billionaires, but he wasn't always the money maker in the family. It was Gertz's acting career that made their life possible. She told the outlet, "I paid for our first house. I paid for our first vacation. I married him because I fell in love with him." The two wed in 1989 and have three sons. 

Having children played a part in Gertz's decision to step back from acting. She told the Washington Post in 2012, "When I went to do 'Twister,' I had a 3-year-old and a 6-week-old, and I was in the middle of cornfields in the middle of Iowa ... I wanted to be in their life. I thought, 'Why have them if I don't want to be around them?'" The couple tends to shy away from the spotlight now, but as seen above, they did make a rare appearance in 2026 for the opening of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art's David Geffen Galleries, which they donated $50 million to. Not surprisingly, Gertz looked amazing.
