Leanne Morgan Has Nothing But Praise For Co-Star & Pal Lainey Wilson: 'She's Got That Like Dolly'

Lainey Wilson may be best known for her work in country music, but she's slowly but surely making a name for herself as an actor as well. For example, longtime fans of Wilson's are probably well aware of the time she spent on "Yellowstone" from 2022 to 2024. More recently, the "Watermelon Moonshine" hitmaker landed a guest role on the second season of actor and comedian Leanne Morgan's eponymous Netflix sitcom, "Leanne," in the summer of 2026. Of course, Wilson's involvement was hardly surprising, given her close friendship with the show's star. As a matter of fact, you'd be hard pressed to find someone with more nice things to say about Wilson than Morgan. The "Leanne" lead even went as far as to compare her country co-star to the late, great (and dearly beloved) Dolly Parton.

"[S]he's just so fun to be around and so authentic," Morgan said of Wilson during an August 2026 interview with Decider, adding, "We just lift each other up. I'd say that's what we do [for each other]. ... We've talked a lot about authenticity; she's got that like Dolly [Parton]." Mind you, the actor wasn't done gushing about her friendship with the country singer. During a separate interview with Country Living, published the day after the Decider one, Morgan offered more details about her bond with Wilson. "It's like I've known her all my life. She's so authentic, and so naturally funny. We were just so thrilled that she agreed to do it," she said.

Notably, while Season 2 of "Leanne" marked the first time Leanne Morgan and Lainey Wilson acted opposite one another, it technically wasn't the first time they shared the screen. As Morgan mentioned during her aforementioned interview with Country Living, the two actually competed against one another during an episode of "Celebrity Family Feud" back in September 2025. And while they may be good friends, that doesn't mean Wilson was necessarily happy about the outcome. "She invited our family to come, and she's still not over it, 'cause we beat them, 'cause she's very competitive," Morgan said. Additionally, in November 2025, Morgan and Wilson took the stage while wearing matching outfits at that year's CMA Awards in Nashville.

At the time of writing, it's unclear if any more collaborations between Morgan and Wilson will hit the airwaves in the immediate future. One thing's for certain, though: Morgan definitely wants to see Wilson do more in Hollywood, and will be cheering her on as the country star's stunning transformation continues. As Morgan shared with Decider in August 2026, "I've told her — because I think she wants children — she's asked me different advice about her career, and she's on top of the world, but she can have both, she can have both, and I hope she gets to."

For her part, Wilson similarly spoke highly of working with Morgan during a behind-the-scenes interview with Extra that was posted in September 2026. In other words, it doesn't seem there are too many hard feelings over the whole "Family Feud" thing
