Signs That Prince Harry's UK Move Could End His Feud With Prince William

As of this writing, many observers of the royal family believe that Prince William and Prince Harry are still barely on speaking terms. The royal brothers experienced a massive falling out after Harry moved to the United States in 2020, and since then, they have not exactly been close. William believes that Prince Harry is a danger to the other royals — no thanks to his history of airing the family's dirty laundry in bombshell tell-alls. Harry, meanwhile, has expressed concern over William's temper. One of the most shocking revelations from Prince Harry's memoir, "Spare," detailed an episode in which the Prince of Wales allegedly knocked his younger brother to the ground during an argument. Tensions clearly run high.

That said, Harry's surprising decision to move his family back to the United Kingdom in 2026 has put the royal brothers in an interesting position. For the first time in about six years, the duo will be living on the same side of the Atlantic Ocean. This means that it will suddenly be much harder for William and Harry to avoid each other. It has also put pressure on the brothers to finally put their feud to rest. While most reports indicate that Princess Diana's "boys," as she used to call them, are still quite upset, there have been signs that a much-anticipated reconciliation is already in the works.

For Prince Harry and Prince William to actually make amends, the brothers will have to admit that their yearslong stalemate has become too stale to bear. Sources close to Harry say that the prince hopes his U.K. return will provide him with the opportunity to see William again. Apparently, Harry is soaked in nostalgia. He has reportedly spoken about potential joint public appearances with his older brother — just like back in the good old days. As one of Harry's friends told the Daily Express, "It's too soon now, but there is a hope and a belief that one day they will appear in public together and that will completely change the narrative."

Ultimately, a reconciliation with the British royal family would be excellent for Harry's public image. That said, William must decide whether he can trust Harry again. According to some sources, the Prince of Wales has not closed the door completely on his little brother. Speaking to News24, royal expert Kinsey Schofield dished, "[Y]ou might see Prince William allow Harry back into his life." As for Meghan? "[A]bsolutely not," Schofield said.

Prince Harry is not the only one who wants peace in the royal family. Reports indicate that King Charles III is sick of Prince William and Prince Harry's feud, and apparently, the monarch is willing to move mountains to bring their arguing to an end. A source close to the royal family told People that Charles is looking forward to spending time with the Sussexes now that they will be residing in the United Kingdom. "The king would love to have Harry around," dished the insider. Would he be willing to view his two sons on separate occasions? Maybe at first, but definitely not for long. "He will want to see his sons together over time ... This is the best opportunity we have seen in recent years," the source added.

While William and Harry may not be ready to bury the hatchet just yet, Charles has long felt frustrated with their bickering. As the Duke of Sussex shared in his bombshell memoir, "Spare," Charles' distaste for his sons' feud goes back a long way. Following Prince Philip's 2021 funeral, the current king begged William and Harry to put their arguments aside, saying, "Please boys, don't make my final years a misery" (via Yahoo News).

Since Charles uttered those words, he lost his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. He has also been diagnosed with cancer. Experts say the king knows he's not immortal — and that there's no time to waste on arguments. 

Prince William has bitterly opposed a reunion with Prince Harry for years, but the tides may be turning, thanks to his wife, Princess Catherine. According to reports shared on Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice Substack, Catherine does not want her husband to continue fighting with his younger brother — especially in light of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's return to the United Kingdom. Due to all the press surrounding Harry's U.K. adventures, Catherine has begun to worry about the way that the Sussexes' so-called rival court could impact the monarchy's image. Apparently, the Princess of Wales has started to feel that decreasing tensions with the Sussex camp may be the only way to cement William's authority within the royal fold.

As one source told Shuter in the previously cited report, Catherine feels that William and Harry "can be civil, they can cooperate, and they can stop feeding the story that the royal family is permanently divided." Does the princess want William and Harry to become best friends? According to rumor, she knows that this would be impossible. In the words of the same insider, "She knows William and Harry may never be brothers in the way they once were." That said, Catherine may try to convince William to forgive Harry — if only publicly. "Kate is thinking about the institution and the future, when William is king and she is queen," the source added.

Prince Harry and Prince William have been sparring for almost a decade, and Princess Anne is said to be at her wits' end. The Princess Royal has reportedly begun pressuring Harry and William to finally make up. According to at least one source, Anne has begun to worry about the way that the brothers' issues have impacted the monarchy. An anonymous insider told Closer that Anne is of the opinion that, "The reputational fallout the entire family is suffering because of this immaturity is simply unacceptable." She is said to be particularly upset about the way the feud has affected King Charles III in light of his cancer diagnosis.

With this in mind, she has reportedly started pressuring William to forgive Harry and move forward. While William may be frustrated with his brother, Anne's pro-monarchy discourse might actually get through to him. The Prince of Wales is famously loyal to the institution that he's one day expected to lead.

(via the Express), "Harry wants to spend more time in the U.K. and bring the children over to be with their grandparents and cousins." At the time of the interview, the source thought it would be difficult for Archie and Lilibet to reconnect with the Wales children due to their parents' feud. Following their transatlantic move, though, the Sussex kids have already clamored to meet George, Charlotte, and Louis. As one insider told Woman's Day, "[W]hat excites [Archie and Lilibet] more than anything, by all accounts, is that they'll finally have the chance to get to know their cousins." If this interest flows both ways, Harry and William may be forced to reconcile.

If a royal cousins' reunion isn't enough to convince Prince William to forgive Prince Harry, there may be something else that will. As the Daily Mail reported, one of the projects that Harry will take on during his time in the U.K. is a documentary in honor of his late mother, Princess Diana. Expected to mark the 30-year anniversary of Diana's tragic death in a Paris car accident, the film will reportedly focus on the princess' inspiring life. Some royal experts now hope that the documentary will help William and Harry reconnect — and possibly even reminisce about their mother.

Many of the people who knew Diana have expressed frustration over William and Harry's issues. There is an overwhelming feeling among her friends that she would not be happy with the rift between her two boys — if she were still alive. "This is the sadness of it — they aren't supporting each other like they should be," one anonymous source told People in 2025. "That's what any mother would want — that they are there for each other." Royal expert Andrew Morton went on to tell the outlet that Diana had hoped Harry would go on to become William's right-hand man. "If she had been around, they would have worked things out in a different way," Morton claimed. As Harry begins producing his documentary about Diana, experts hope it inspires William to forgive his younger brother. 

Despite the bad blood flowing between Prince William and Prince Harry, there is a chance the two will reconcile. Harry has known William his entire life. According to rumor, Harry is willing to use his deep knowledge of William to make a reconciliation happen for real. One of the redhead's close friends says that Harry might rebuild a relationship with William by taking full responsibility for everything that went down between them. "He was always having to be the bigger person when they were younger, or at least that's how he tells it, and he says if he has to do that yet again to save the family then, he's not opposed to it," the insider told Closer.

In the same interview with Woman and Home, the insider suggested that Harry might use the meeting to make peace with William. "He knows that if he remains at war with his brother, when the time comes for William to take the throne, the consequences for him could be severe," the source claimed.
