Numbers Don't Lie: Taylor Swift Is Travis Kelce's Good Luck Charm On The Field
The first time Taylor Swift slipped into a Kansas City Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium on September 24, 2023, Travis Kelce's team buried the Chicago Bears 41-10, but the media was more interested in the soft launch of Swift and Kelce's relationship than anything else that happened on the field. Swift kept showing up — first to home games then to road trips and deep playoff runs — and by the end of the 2024 season, she'd become a fixture at Chiefs games, and a spectacle unto herself. Such was her dedication that at one point, Swift's appearance at a Chiefs game had even her fans turning on her.
The Chiefs kept winning, though, and commentators started noticing that Kelce seemed to save his best games for the nights she was in the building. The math is really hard to shrug off. The "Tortured Poets Department" singer attended nine games during the 2024 season (prior to the Super Bowl), and the Chiefs won each one of those. Across the 22 games she had attended up to that point in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Kansas City went a staggering 19-3. She even watched the Chiefs claim the Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl LVIII in February 2024. The two games she attended at the start of the 2026 season showed the Chiefs reigning victorious as well.
However, there were blemishes too, like three losses during the 2023 season that Swift saw in person, and the Super Bowl LIX defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in February 2025. But if you want a throughline to her tenure as the Chiefs' unofficial mascot, don't look to Swift's best and worst game day looks but to the scoreboard, and the part Kelce himself plays in it.
Travis Kelce is a different beast on the field when his wife is around
Whether you believe Taylor Swift has brought good luck to the Chiefs or not, Travis Kelce's stats are pretty impressive whenever she's in attendance. While the team defeated the Los Angeles Chargers in October 2023, CBS ran the tape and found that when Swift was in the stadium, Travis logged an average of 8.5 catches and 108 receiving yards per game. When put against the 7.0 catches and 46.5 yards without her, we're looking at a sizable boost. Over the 2023 campaign through the AFC Championship, Travis averaged roughly 78.8 receiving yards in games Swift watched versus about 50 in the ones she missed (via ESPN), so the gap was pretty much there all season.
Travis hasn't missed the pattern. On the brothers' "New Heights" podcast in October 2023, Jason Kelce joked about the disparity when Travis is there "only with your friends and remaining family," and Travis said: "[It's kind of] hard for me to wrap my head around that sentence." His head coach, Andy Reid, gave the mystical arrangement his blessing. "Kelce keeps getting better with time," he said after that game, per CBS Sports. "Taylor can stay around all she wants."
All that aside, it bears noting that the Chiefs were already a juggernaut. They'd won Super Bowl LVII in February 2023 months before the billionaire songwriter found her way to Arrowhead Stadium. During the 2024 season, they were nearly as unstoppable when she wasn't there. As for Travis, the man does seem to raise his game when his favorite spectator is watching from the suite, and Swift matches his energy by wearing outfits that give cheeky nods to her husband.
