This Subtle Detail Proves Prince William & Kate Middleton Make 'A Great Double Act'
The future of the British monarchy might be uncertain, but Prince William and Princess Catherine could just be the ones to bring it back from the brink. The Prince and Princess of Wales are the very picture of a happy marriage, and they've kept their noses clean too. We arguably haven't seen a pair as fit for royalty since Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. As early as 2019, insiders have indicated that William and Catherine make a mean team. "They are a great double act," a senior royal source confirmed to People at the time. "People make much of William giving the big speeches, but Kate is there too, asking questions of presidents and their wives."
As they reasoned simply, "These things are easier when they are side by side." Guests who attended the 2019 reception for diplomats at Buckingham Palace suggested that the royal couple's secret is their down to earth demeanor. "They combine grace and regal presence with a lovely human touch," one guest enthused. "They are gracious and natural and yet able to really connect." It's not just outsiders who have noticed that William and Catherine are the perfect pairing.
Even his cousin, Peter Phillips, has praised their ability to work together seamlessly. "Her and William make a fantastic team together," Phillips proudly told Sky News in 2024. He praised the couple's ability to fulfill their royal duties as well as their parental obligations which, as a father himself, Phillips admitted is hard to do on the best of days. "I think that balance of doing the family life and also the public life, I think they've pretty much got that bang on," he proclaimed.
William and Catherine's reign will require them to work together as a team
There's been ample speculation by royalists and experts alike that Prince William is ready to be king. And, if their relationship history is any indication, Princess Catherine will be by her husband's side, ready to lend a helping hand. When the time comes, the royal couple will approach their new roles the same way they have everything else — as a team. Kate Middleton will be William's queen consort, but that doesn't mean she'll take a back seat. "Catherine is no wallflower, somebody told me," royal biographer Simon Vigar clarified to Fox News in September 2026. "She's got definite views about things. William obviously trusts her implicitly [...] William needs Catherine. [...] She's probably the cleverest of a lot of them." Vigar added that the Princess of Wales has watched and learned from fellow consorts Prince Philip, and now Queen Camilla.
Indeed, Kate Middleton is as ready to be queen as William is to step into his duties as the head of the British monarchy, and if experts are to be believed, they are set to be the ultimate power couple. Speaking to OK! magazine in August 2026, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond said that she believes the Prince and Princess of Wales are a formidable pair chiefly thanks to their shared interests. "They are completely aligned in their love of nature and their belief in the climate crisis facing the world," Bond explained (via Express), adding, "That's one of the many reasons why they make such a great team." She noted William has supported Catherine's royal charitable endeavors, and she has done likewise in return. "They are partners and far more equal partners than many future kings and queens before them," the royal expert surmised.
