Prince Harry Broke His Silence On William Feud With 6-Word Message To The Future King
In a surprising turn of events, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, made a return to the U.K. in August 2026. It's not clear if it's a permanent move as Harry and Meghan still own their home in Montecito, California. But, they'll be staying long enough, it seems, as they have enrolled Archie and Lilibet in school, a move that's drawn the attention of the paparazzi. Some have mused the move might be Harry's attempt to try and get on better terms with his family and Harry has now spoken directly about wanting reconciliation.
In an interview with GQ's "One More Question" podcast, Harry was talking about his new MasterClass "Redefining Grief." He was asked directly about "having a complicated relationship with your brother, your father. Is that something you grieve?" As they talked about the situation, Harry said directly, "I want to work it out."
It seems like it's a direct statement to William, Prince of Wales, who, so far, has not shown any public signs of wanting to make things better. When pressed on the topic, Harry confirmed that "with everything else that's going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile. That's the key point."
Prince Harry knows some people aren't interested in him reconciling with his family
Interestingly, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex also told GQ of the situation with his family, "some people don't want it to work out." It wasn't exactly clear if he meant people within the fractured family relationship (his father, King Charles III, and his brother, William, Prince of Wales) weren't interested in a reconciliation, or if it could be outside forces against them.
Harry talked about realizing how people look at the relationship he has (or doesn't have, as the case may be) with his family as an example of how they do (or don't) work things out. He acknowledged people might view them being able to mend fences as an option they'd have with their own family members.
Harry might be more likely to mend fences with King Charles. There were already signs of a better relationship between father and son when Harry, Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet visited with King Charles and Queen Camilla over the summer. But the feud between Harry and William seems like it may be a harder one to overcome. And if William isn't ready to get back on better terms with his brother, there's going to be tension between William and King Charles over Harry, too.
