Where The Most Successful Stars From The Voice Are Today
When "The Voice" first debuted in 2011, audiences were captivated by the show's unique premise: The industry's biggest artists listened blindly to music hopefuls and judged them solely on their vocals, not their appearance. The original lineup of judges on the competition series featured Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green, and throughout its 15 years on-air, "The Voice" has had an ever-rotating panel of talented judges.
Winners receive a $100,000 prize and a record deal with a major label, and their coaches serve as their mentors, encouraging them every step of the way. Throughout the years, the show has helped introduce fans to some truly exceptional singers from various music genres, and famous faces like Cassadee Pope, Morgan Wallen, and Melanie Martinez have all gone on to craft decorated careers for themselves.
The series provides these artists with much-needed exposure and offers insight into the intricacies of the industry. With 30 seasons (and counting), "The Voice" continues to be one of TV's most exciting competitions and keeps audiences on their toes with its gifted crop of aspiring performers.
Nicolle Galyon became a Grammy-nominated songwriter
Country singer Nicolle Galyon kicked off her music career when she participated in Season 2 of "The Voice" in 2012, joining Adam Levine's team before ultimately getting eliminated in the battle rounds. Galyon went on to find massive success as a songwriter, helping pen country sensation Miranda Lambert's Grammy-nominated song "Automatic" in 2014. The tune was also named the song of the year at the ACM Awards.
Galyon has also written top 10 hits for a slew of notable musicians like Keith Urban, Florida Georgia Line, and Kenny Chesney, and in 2019, she won BMI's country songwriter of the year, becoming the first woman to receive the accolade since Taylor Swift in 2010. "I think we become songwriters by listening to ourselves," she told American Songwriter of her creative collaborating process
"We have to get connected with ourselves and our own thoughts and our own stories and feelings and emotions. To become a really good co-writer for another artist you have to learn to listen to them." In 2022, the musician released her debut studio album "Firstborn," and she joined forces with Big Loud Records to help establish the female-driven record label Songs and Daughters.
RaeLynn sang onstage at the Grand Ole Opry
Season 2 contestant RaeLynn was just 17 when she appeared in the competition series, dazzling audiences with her rendition of "Free Fallin'" and joining Team Blake Shelton. Following her elimination, RaeLynn released her successful single "God Made Girls" and her debut album "WildHorse." She performed at the Grand Ole Opry in 2014 and served as a supporting act for Jason Aldean's 2025 Full Throttle Tour.
RaeLynn has remained close with mentor Shelton and performed backup vocals for his song "Boys 'Round Here," a tune that peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. Following the birth of her daughter Daisy in 2021, her former mentor Shelton and his wife Gwen Stefani sweetly sent RaeLynn flowers.
"Every once in a while, you just meet somebody that you are like, 'This person is going to be in my life for the rest of my life,' and I just know that I am going to know that person," she told People of Shelton's impact on her life. "I knew that right when I met Blake, he was somebody that I knew would be in my life forever and be a constant friend and a constant mentor."
Cassadee Pope became a chart-topping country star
Cassadee Pope was already the lead singer of the rock band Hey Monday when she auditioned for Season 3 of "The Voice" in 2012, becoming the show's first female winner. Her debut country album "Frame by Frame" peaked at No. 9 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and went to No. 1 on the U.S. Top Country Albums. In 2014, Pope won the Country Music Television (CMT) Music Award for breakthrough video of the year for the album's platinum single "Wasting All These Tears."
Pope received a Grammy nomination for her song "Think of You" with Chris Young in 2018 and went on to release the albums "Stages" and "Thrive." After dominating the country world, the musician decided to return to her punk-pop roots and announced her 2024 album "Hereditary," which embraced an edgier sound.
"My style keeps changing. I'm evolving. I was wanting to do rock again, just sonically. So there's a lot more than just the political aspect and being opinionated," she said to People of the decision. "I tried to bring it a little bit into country. I never quite did the super, super country honky-tonk stuff, so I always felt like I had that rock edge."
Melanie Martinez achieved double-platinum status
Following her appearance in Season 3, Melanie Martinez skyrocketed to superstardom after she signed to Atlantic Records and released her double-platinum single "Dollhouse" in 2014. Martinez's debut studio album "Cry Baby" received critical acclaim and was certified platinum in the U.S. The singer subsequently released "K-12," "Portals," and most recently "Hades" in 2026.
"Hades" debuted at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and claimed the top spot on the U.S. Top Rock & Alternative Albums, spawning singles like "Possession" and "Disney Princess." Martinez has developed a devoted fan base throughout her career and has nearly 14 million followers on Instagram.
She hasn't shied away from addressing heavy subjects and has penned poignant songs tackling an array of topics like feminine rage, the housing crisis, and unhealthy relationships. "I do think it's important as well to try to create melodies and sonnets around important topics to open up new perspective to people," she told Billboard of her album "Hades." "There's so much beauty in the world. There's so much to be grateful for. Human connection is palpable and potent and juicy."
Loren Allred performed on The Greatest Showman soundtrack
Season 3 contestant Loren Allred thrived when she performed the certified platinum single "Never Enough" for the soundtrack of the musical movie "The Greatest Showman" in 2017. She also provided the singing voice for actor Rebecca Ferguson's character in the blockbuster hit, and the film went on to win numerous accolades, including a Grammy Award and a Golden Globe.
"I felt so proud because people were hearing my voice, and that's what I had dreamed of," Allred told Wide Open Country of the experience. "But people didn't know that I had sung the song in the movie, so when they heard me singing, people would say, 'You sound just like the movie. Wow.'" Allred has since performed a duet of "Help Me Make It Through the Night" with Michael Bublé on his album "Love" and collaborated with David Foster for his concert special "An Intimate Evening."
The songstress went on tour with famed Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and appeared on "Britain's Got Talent" in 2022, receiving the Golden Buzzer and making it to the semifinals in the competition. In 2026, Allred sang the songs "Champions" and "Love of the Game" for the Pokémon World Championships.
Danielle Bradbery had a country hit with 85 million streams

Bradbery has had 15 songs on the Billboard Hot Country Chart, releasing popular singles like "Goodbye Summer" with Thomas Rhett and "The Heart of Dixie."
Her most successful song, "Stop Draggin' Your Boots," has racked up over 125 million streams, and she was nominated for new female vocalist of the year at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Bradbery released her independent album "Danielle" in 2024, and in 2026, she performed her single "Cowgirl's Prayer" onstage at the Grand Ole Opry.
"Being honest and vulnerable has always been a constant for me," she said to Texas Lifestyle Magazine about the emotional new song. "I've never shied away from singing about what I'm going through." Bradbery further opened up about what taking the iconic stage was like. "Performing it for the first time at the Opry was really special. It's such an iconic stage, and it just felt like a beautiful, full-circle experience."
Tessanne Chin became a Jamaican sensation
Jamaican singer Tessanne Chin dominated "The Voice" in Season 5 as a member of Team Adam and won the title thanks to her commanding covers of hits including "Try." Following her victory, Chin performed at The White House in 2014 alongside fellow powerhouse performers like Aretha Franklin, Ariana Grande, and Patti LaBelle for a special concert honoring women of soul.
Chin released her album "Count on My Love," featuring her rendition of The Commodores' "Everything Reminds Me of You." The singer also debuted the stand-alone single "Fire." She has been heavily involved in charities and has performed at many benefit concerts, using her platform to raise awareness for various organizations, including the Lupus Foundation of America.
She has also established The Tessanne Chin Foundation and its associate programs, The Voice House and Voice Box, which aim to educate and empower young artists by providing performing arts scholarships and mentorship programs in her home country of Jamaica. The foundation has received the support of prominent Jamaican musicians like Sean Paul, and in 2024, it awarded an aspiring singer $500,000 to pursue her music dreams.
Christina Grimmie was tragically killed in 2016
Singer and songwriter Christina Grimmie finished in third place in Season 6, though she first gained prominence in 2009 with her covers on YouTube, racking up more than 2 million followers. Grimmie had released her debut album "With Love" in 2013 before appearing on "The Voice" a year later, performing Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" during her blind audition and joining Team Adam.
After the show, she signed with Island Records and debuted singles like "Must Be Love," "Stay With Me," and "Shrug" while also releasing her EP "Side A" in 2016. On June 10, 2016, Grimmie's life was tragically cut short when obsessed fan Kevin Loibl approached her at a meet-and-greet event and fatally shot her. Her death shocked and devastated the music world and beyond. After her death, Billboard published an open letter advocating for gun control, amassing almost 200 signatures, including musicians and industry executives.
Grimmie's former mentor Adam Levine paid for her funeral expenses. Her "The Voice" family also paid their respects, and her fans, friends, and fellow singers offered their condolences and mourned the young star. In 2017, Grimmie's family established the Christina Grimmie Foundation, which provides support to families impacted by gun violence.
Morgan Wallen became a global country superstar
Before he became one of the most popular country performers in the world, Morgan Wallen began his rise to fame on Season 6 of "The Voice," where he made it to the playoffs. He swiftly released his debut album "If I Know Me" in 2018, which featured breakout songs "Chasin' You" and "Whiskey Glasses." Though "The Voice" provided Wallen with exposure, the singer wasn't exactly thrilled about his experience behind the scenes.
"They wanted me to sing pop music," he said in a 2024 TikTok. "They got me dressed like ... I don't even know ... singing a pop song. I'm very fish out of water. I don't know what's going on. You hear all of these people, all of these bigwigs. I've never even been on a plane before the show. So I'm like, I don't really know ... I'm so naive to all this stuff."
The musician has since released three massively successful albums, the most recent of which was 2025's "I'm the Problem." The album topped the Billboard 200 and sold 493,000 units its first week. Wallen has won many accolades, including 21 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and was named entertainer of the year at the 2024 ACMA Awards.
Koryn Hawthorne won a Billboard Music Award
Koryn Hawthorne was a finalist during Season 8, when she was 17, and she signed with RCA Inspiration after coming in fourth in the competition. Hawthorne's debut album "Unstoppable" reached No. 1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart in 2018 and featured the lead single "Won't He Do It," which claimed the top spot on Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs chart and was certified platinum.
She has received two Grammy nominations for her gospel performances and won the Billboard Music Award for top gospel song for "Won't He Do It" in 2019. Hawthorne released "On God" in 2024, spawning the single "Look at God," which landed at the top of the Gospel Airplay chart. In a 2026 interview, she opened up about what it was like starting out on "The Voice."
"I had been doing singing competitions since I was 7 years old, and being on a reality singing competition was literally my dream," Hawthorne told Parle Magazine. "I watched shows like 'The Voice' and 'American Idol,' and in my mind, that was how I was going to get my start." She further added that being on the show was "the dream come true."
Sawyer Fredericks had music featured in a Netflix series
Blues crooner Sawyer Fredericks beat out his competition to win Season 8, impressing his coach Pharrell Williams with his rendition of "Man of Constant Sorrow" in his audition. At 16, he became the show's youngest male winner at the time and signed a contract with Republic Records in 2015. Fredericks' original song "Silent World" was in the Netflix series "Longmire," while John Ondrasik's cover of his single "This Fire" was in an episode of "Code Black."
After leaving Republic Records to become an independent artist in 2017, Fredericks released the albums "Hide Your Ghost" and "Flowers for You." The latter album included the songs "Lies You Tell" and "Days Go By," featuring the band The Accidentals. Fredericks' most recent EP, "The Golden Tree," came out in 2023 and captures his signature folk rock sound.
Despite the risk, the musician did not regret walking away from a major record deal. "I left them really because I felt I wasn't getting enough creative freedom. I felt they were pushing me into a style I didn't want to be in. I just didn't want that. I've been very happy since I left," he told Windy City Times.
Jordan Smith wrote a power ballad for Celine Dion
After eliciting a four-chair turn with his performance of "Chandelier," Jordan Smith represented Team Adam and won the ninth season of "The Voice" in 2015. Smith made Billboard history when he became the first artist on the Hot Christian Songs chart to hold the top two positions concurrently, doing so with his covers of "Mary, Did You Know?" and "Hallelujah." In 2018, Smith helped pen the song "Ashes" for the "Deadpool 2" soundtrack, which was performed by Grammy winner Céline Dion.
"I went from this super small town where I dreamt maybe someday of being able to make a living as a music teacher or doing something that involves music just so I can pay the bills, and then I find myself on the red carpet at a movie premiere for the No. 2 movie in the entire world, having written a song for arguably one of the greatest singers of all time, Céline Dion," he told Parade of writing the power ballad.
In 2022, Smith competed in NBC's "American Song Contest" and represented his state of Kentucky, performing his single "Sparrow" and placing third in the competition. Smith released his fourth studio album, "The People's Hymnal," in 2024.

Season 9 runner-up Emily Ann Roberts became close with her mentor Blake Shelton on the show, and after competing, she went back to finish high school before pursuing her career. In 2019, Roberts returned to "The Voice" to perform her single "Someday Dream," and Shelton praised the young singer via Billboard. "I couldn't be more proud of all the work she has put in and she continues to be an awesome vocalist," he said.
Roberts' debut album "Can't Hide Country" was released in 2023, and she also voiced the character Trixie for the County Bear Musical Jamboree attraction at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. In 2025, the country crooner signed a record deal with Sony Music Nashville, and later that year, she debuted the EP "Memory Lane," which spawned catchy tunes like "Bus to Augusta" and "Pretty in Pink."

Alisan Porter returned to The Voice on the 10th anniversary of her win
After enjoying a career as a child actor and appearing in films like "Parenthood" and "Curly Sue" in the '80s and '90s, Alisan Porter set her sights on conquering the music world. The Americana singer was named the victor in Season 10 and went on to release albums including "Who We Are" and "Pink Cloud" and singles like "Down That Road" and "Meant for Me."
Outside of her own thriving music career, Porter serves as a behind-the-scenes vocal coach for the reality series "The Masked Singer." In May 2026, she returned to "The Voice" to perform her new single "Race to Nowhere" for the 10th anniversary of her win and promote her latest album, "Porter."

"We really had a tight-knit group, and a lot of us still write together and support each other in music and share pictures of our kids."
