Why Cheryl Burke Wants Bachelorettes Banned From DWTS

Two former Bachelorettes, Hannah Brown and Kaitlyn Bristowe, have won Dancing With the Stars in back-to-back victories. DWTS professional dancer Cheryl Burke is concerned that their consecutive wins could lead to a conspiracy about the show only allowing ABC personalities to win.

Cheryl revealed on Pretty Messed Up, the podcast she co-hosts with AJ McLean and René Elizondo Jr., that she even spoke to DWTS producers about not casting any else from The Bachelorette in order to avoid controversy going forward (via Cheat Sheet). That's not to say that she isn't happy for Kaitlyn's win, though, especially as Kaitlyn's partner, Artem Chigvintsev, had never won the competition before.

Kaitlyn's win had DWTS fans seeing red as many though that Catfish host and DWTS runner-up Nev Schulman and his professional dance partner, Jenna Johnson, had delivered a stronger performance and were more worthy of the win.

Stars from another reality show may be banned from DWTS

If Cheryl gets her way, Bachelorettes may not be the only reality stars banned from Dancing With the Stars. Show host Tyra Banks reportedly has her own ideas about who should and should not be allowed to compete on the show. OK! reported in October that Tyra, who took over the hosting gig earlier this year, does not want any Real Housewives competing on the celebrity dance competition. "Tyra is the new boss and made it clear that she didn't want any more Housewives in her ballroom," a source said. "She thinks the show needs to aim higher and only book the ladies after everyone else has passed."

While several Real Housewives are said to have expressed their interest in competing on DWTS, they may have to wait. While the source said it's possible that they may be allowed on the show in the future, Tyra reportedly "doesn't want any of them right now."

According to the source, Tyra allegedly doesn't think that the Real Housewives are famous enough to be on the show. "Tyra wants reality stars like Carole Baskin from Tiger King — not a decade-old franchise that no one talks about anymore," they said. "If Tyra thought for one minute that the Housewives would get her show ratings, she would welcome them to the dance floor in a second."
