Megan Thee Stallion Almost Got Her Start On This Iconic Reality Show

Megan Thee Stallion: We all know her name. She's the Grammy-nominated rapper, self-proclaimed H-Town Hottie, girl with the body-yadi-yadi who's always busy doing "hot girl s***." But despite her incredibly quick ascent into fame and onto our Spotify playlists, the beginning of her career saw many rejections — but there's one rejection in particular that MTS fans are shocked by.

On January 11, media mogul channel VH1 released a throwback clip that showed Megan Thee Stallion auditioning to be a part of their mega-popular series, Love & Hip Hop. If you're unfamiliar with it, the show follows the lives of various hip-hop and R&B artists, producers, performers, and more within the music industry. Some popular names that have appeared on the show include Nick Cannon, Brandy, Snoop Dog, and even Cardi B (via VH1). Well believe it or not, despite Megan Thee Stallion's best efforts, she was totally passed up on.

Megan Thee Stallion had to find a different route to fame, as this one totally rejected her

VH1 recently posted a throwback video to Instagram of Megan Thee Stallion's incredibly on-brand audition video for the show. "It's Megan Thee Stallion aka young Tina Snow aka H-Town Hottie and I'm from Houston Texas and I'm just the best female rapper that's poppin' off right now," she said in the video. "And on top of that, I'm a full-time college student."

Later in the video, she mentions that her "mom was a female rapper" and that she recalls one day at the age of 18 telling her that she, too, wanted to become a rapper. "I can rap," she asserted to her mother at the time. Megan Thee Stallion claims her mother responded by saying, "Uh, no you can't," but she believed in herself nonetheless.

"Megan is gonna become a household name," she added. "When you're talkin' about those poppin' rappers, I'm going to be in that conversation." We can only imagine how VH1 feels right now knowing they turned down one of the biggest up and coming rappers in the industry — just as she predicted she would become (via Hot New Hip Hop).
