The Truth About Matt James' New Bachelor Contestants

Matt James was down to 18 possible loves of his life from an original 32. Then, another five showed up to woo him (via ABC). Get ready, because things are about to get juicier than they already were. Like, remember when Us Weekly interviewed James, and he revealed that he'd fallen for more than one of the hopefuls on the show? We won't get into all the spoilers, as Marie Claire does, but rumor has it that one of The Bachelor's new arrivals will become a top contender for Matt James' heart.

Is it, maybe, significant that James posted a picture of only one of the women (that would be Michelle Young) on his Instagram? To echo the thoughts of one of his followers: "part of me thinks the Bachelor producers don't know you posted this and it will be taken down shortly." Alternatively, is the new Queen in the house (the Puerto Rican beauty queen, Catalina Morales) destined to reign? Without further ado, here's a look at James' new Bachelor contestants.

Brittany Galvin's dramatic entrance is raising eyebrows

As seen on Instagram, model Brittany Galvin kicked off the year traveling to South Africa, horse-riding, and showcasing her mad yoga skills. The 23-year-old is a former high school cheerleader and honor-roll student according to Chicago Tribune. And while she swears she's "serial monogamist" on her ABC profile, during Galvin's first episode, fellow contestant Anna Redman accused her (in front of, literally, everyone else) of being the opposite. "People have gone out of their way to tell me, ohmigod, watch out for this girl ... that she is entertaining men for money," said Redman. Galvin flat out denied the rumors, per ET's play-by-play. "I just feel like everyone's against me right now. I know you guys don't care at all, but it's really hard," the young Bachelor contestant said. (Are you getting Sarah Trott flashbacks? Because we are.)

If Matt James decided that Galvin is right for him, he'll also have to be down with moving to New York City, where Galvin wants to be. He also might find himself on a trip to Ibiza (maybe for their honeymoon?) where the young bachelorette longs to DJ a dance party.

Catalina Morales is out to rule the world (and Matt James' heart)

The 29-year-old ex-Miss Puerto Rico, Catalina Morales, wants a family someday, so if Matt James doesn't, that's "an absolute deal-breaker," according to her ABC profile. When she does have kids, don't expect her to stay at home. Morales is an entertainment and business law attorney, and is soon to be triple-licensed as per her Instagram profile: in Florida, Puerto Rico, and New York.

The salsa and merengue-dancing overachiever also appears to be a globetrotter, as her social media is full of travel pics: Mexico, Iceland, Jordan, and Bali all figure among the beauty queen's conquests. Morales has a solid group of friends to support her in her goals: a group of former Miss Universe contestants with whom she's bonded for life. "Need I remind you I've been a bridesmaid at two of my Miss Universe best friend's weddings already?" she writes in one Instagram post. Now, Morales looking for long-term, romantic companionship. "No accomplishment is of much value if I don't have the one to share it with," she reflected to ABC.

Kim Li's polar bear cuddling aspirations is #goals

The 28-year-old California resident knows what's what. As per her ABC profile, Kim Li wants to meet Beyoncé, cuddle a baby polar bear, and might one day become a world-renowned hotel interior designer. Also, she's got this going for her: Li knows better than to trust in 2-in-1 shampoos, and "girls who girls who don't like dessert (suspicious!!)," at least according to her Instagram.

Did we mention that Li has spent over three years as a cardiovascular intensive care nurse at the nation's top heart surgery center, Cedars-Sinai, according to her Linkedin? For the past year, she's been working on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. During that time, Li has collected the stickers she gets as her temperature is checked each morning. "Each day I put a new one on, I feel proud of my resilience and what my career/community has asked of me," she reflects.

One last thing. If Li and Matt James are to hit it off, he'll have to be comfortable with the fact that Li "tends to wear the pants in the relationships," as per ABC. And if he isn't, we'll take a hard pass on him, too, honey.

Michelle Young became a early frontrunner

Michelle Young is nothing if not tenacious. ABC executive Robert Mills will tell you that. "She felt for sure this was her husband and basically did anything she could to get there and track him down," he told listeners of The Bachelor Recap podcast (via US Weekly). The 27-year-old elementary school teacher is, per her ABC profile, a "catch-phrase queen" who (you'll have noticed if you watched her first episode) quotes Maya Angelou.

Young's a former Division 1 basketball player, although she "0% miss(es) the conditioning workouts" involved. That's one of the few insights we've gained from her surprisingly sparse Instagram. That, and the fact that Bachelor contestant likes herself a good mug of marshmallow-loaded hot cocoa. Otherwise, we know from her profile that Young is a food truck person, who loves ice cream. We know, too, that Matt James is already smitten. "We're connecting on a lot of levels, and I just really enjoy her company," he said during Young's debut episode, "The thought that someone like Michelle could be someone I call my wife is exciting... I've seen all I need to see" (via ET). And while they may never go on a hot tub date (Young thinks they're "too cliché"), Matt James and Michelle Young's garage dinner sure seemed to hit the spot.

Meet Ryan Claytor, Wonder Woman

26-year-old Ryan Claytor almost certainly knows how to dance better than any other of Matt James' contestants. The 26-year-old dancer and choreographer is a graduate of the prestigious Ailey school, where she attended thanks to its scholarship program (via Dance Magazine). Now, according to the contestant's Instagram profile, Ailey dances on Fox's POSE.

As per her ABC profile, Claytor who "strives to be just like Wonder Woman," is after a man "who has more to talk about than just work," (she doesn't like silence, a whole lot) who "pays extra attention to the little things" and who "exhibits good husband qualities." As for herself, as she once reflected to her Instagram followers, "my character is a strong woman who's independent, following her dreams, wants love, loves her family, and wants to succeed." What should Matt James do to impress the force of nature? Perhaps buy her a bouquet of her favorite flower (roses), or binge-watch the Jurassic Park movies.
