Inside Patrick Mahomes' Relationship With His Brother

The following article contains references to sexual assault.

Patrick Mahomes is the MVP QB for the Kansas City Chiefs. Drafted in 2017, he led Kansas City to a Super Bowl victory in 2020 (the Chiefs' first since 1970). The star quarterback has often spoken about how close he is with his family, especially with Patrick's younger brother, Jackson Mahomes. In fact, Jackson has even referred to Patrick's wife, Brittany Matthews, as his "best friend" on social media.

Although Jackson was an active basketball player he is best known for his popular TikTok channel. According to Life & Style magazine, Jackson really enjoys the attention the channel brings him. "I'll never forget the first time that I was at a football game or at a store when people came up to me noticing me as Jackson from TikTok and not just Patrick Mahomes' brother," Jackson told the outlet.

He continued, "My whole life I've been compared to my dad who was a Major League baseball player, my brother's in the NFL, my godfather's a Major League baseball player — and then there's me." Evidently, though, Jackson has been making a name for himself in his own right — for better and worse.

Jackson Mahomes is super protective of his family

Jackson Mahomes is a popular content creator on two huge social media platforms: YouTube and TikTok. But he made major waves across the internet when Jackson attempted to insert himself into the relationship of two other well-known TikTokers. As OK! magazine reported at the time, Jackson made a duet video with Nessa Barrett that he simply captioned, "Let me take you on a date." The problem? Nessa already had a boyfriend, popular TikToker Josh Richards

The two dated on and off for around a year. Thankfully, they seemingly took Jackson's request in stride, but that's not the only social media drama he's become entangled in over the years. Jackson also shared a testy direct message exchange he had with controversial Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy. Portnoy asked if Jackson would consider being interviewed for his podcast, but the request was turned down quickly.

It turns out that Portnoy previously insulted Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Matthews, in an earlier episode, and the family's feud with Barstool Sports apparently dated back to Super Bowl LIV. Jackson shared the DM exchange on his Instagram Story, alongside the caption: "Why would I go onto a podcast that continues to bash me and my family?"

Patrick is keeping quiet about Jackson's legal troubles

Despite Patrick and Jackson Mahomes' close relationship, the Kansas City quarterback notably put some distance between himself and his little brother after Jackson was arrested and charged with sexual and misdemeanor battery in May 2023. Per Fox News, Aspen Vaughn, owner of a Kansas City bar, alleged the TikTok personality grabbed her neck and kissed her multiple times without her consent. The younger Mahomes brother was released on a $100,000 bond.

Vaughn's establishment, Aspen's Restaurant, experienced a 75% dip in profits and extensive vandalization following the incident, which Vaughn credits to her accusations against Jackson (via Kansas City Star). But his older brother Patrick has remained mum about the controversy. "Honestly, it's kind of a personal thing that I just kind of gotta keep to myself," the football star told reporters in late May 2023, according to Fox.

"At the end of the day, I come here to play football and try to take care of my family at the same time," Patrick continued. "So just kind of keep it to myself and just go out there and play football when I'm in the building. Obviously, I'm on a bigger stage, but at the same time, it's your family. But you have to come in here and do a job, and that's what I try to do every day."
