Did Kate Gosselin Just Make A Big Move?

Once, reality-TV fans were enthralled by TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8, the popular show about the challenges of raising twin daughters and a set of sextuplets. Sadly, Jon and Kate Gosselin went through additional challenges in their own relationship and went through a bitter divorce. Kate went on with her life as a single mom, while Jon eventually took custody of two of the sextuplets, Collin and Hannah, after lengthy court battles (via CafeMom).

All this took a toll on Kate's finances, and projects such as a book and a stint on Dancing With the Stars didn't do much to help. Finally, the reality mom opted to put their expansive family home on the market and start over. An exclusive source told HollywoodLife that Kate did indeed sell her Pennsylvania house back in January, though at a loss of about $700,000 (via In Touch Weekly). She reportedly has moved to an undisclosed location in North Carolina to reboot her life and career, along with 16-year-old Aaden, Alexis, Joel, and Leah. Oldest daughters Mady and Cara, 20, attend college and live on-campus.

The Gosselin kids are torn about the move

As teens, the Gosselin kids are all old enough to understand that money is tight and that North Carolina offers a lower cost of living. That doesn't mean they have to like it, however. In Touch Weekly quotes an unnamed inside source who claims that the four younger children "aren't happy about starting in a new school" and aren't thrilled about the move in general. The source adds that Kate understands their feelings, but is convinced the move down South is "a great place for a fresh start." She is confident that with time, they'll all get used to the change and thrive in the new environment.

Although Mady and Cara (pictured above) regret having to give up the home they grew up in, they accept that it had to be done. As for Collin and Hannah, the In Touch's source remarks that being so far away from their mom, sisters and brothers could drive a stronger wedge between them. Dad Jon, however, is hopeful that all his children will be able to get together at some point and reclaim their relationship.

No word yet from TLC on any new Kate-related projects. Her most recent show, Kate Plus Date, followed her search for love, but was canceled after just one season (via Bustle). Maybe there's a new series in the making: Kate Plus Date in the Tar Heel State.
