Does Prince William No Longer Trust Prince Harry?

In the UK, William and Kate are preparing to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary and seem stronger than ever, according to what a body language expert told Hello!. In the United States, Harry and Meghan are busy preparing for the birth of their second child, a daughter. Separately, the couples seem to be thriving. But together? If Gayle King is to be believed, as of mid-March 2021, no one in the royal family had personally reached out to Meghan since the Oprah interview (via Cosmopolitan). And while William has, allegedly, called Harry, King suggested on CBS This Morning that the conversations "haven't been productive." Tensions between William and Harry have apparently been brewing for a long time. In 2020, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Duran published a royal biography claiming that Harry took offense when William avised his brother to slow down with Meghan. "Don't feel you need to rush this," William purportedly warned Harry. "Take as much time as you need to get to know this girl" (via Vanity Fair).

Has the straw that broke the camel's back been laid at last? According to what an insider told US Weekly, after Gayle King's post-interview conversations with the press, William's not sure he can trust Harry anymore. "William was left reeling. He says it was a cheap shot to leak details of their private call and that he twisted the truth," the source told the media outlet. Given this, William isn't, allegedly, keen to keep talking with his brother. "He's putting himself at risk of the same thing happening again."

Inside William and Harry's post-interview reunion

Like it or not, and trust issues aside, William and Harry have had, at least limited, contact since Oprah. And it's their mother, Princess Diana, who united the royal brothers. According to The Sun, both princes worked together to approve sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley's final plans for a princess Diana statute, due to be unveiled at Kensington Palace on July 1. Someone familiar with Rank-Broadley's process told the gossip column that "I know he did work closely with the boys and I think it will be incredible." The word is still out on whether the two will both be physically present at the statue's unveiling.

Meanwhile, William may have trust issues, but it hasn't been easy for him to let go of Harry. Via OK!, Daily Mail reports that royal journalist Duncan Larcombe  affirmed: "there's no doubt this is one of the hardest things that William has gone through, the hardest since his mother died." Larcombe further commented that William "feels he has lost his brother and his best friend." In his interview with Oprah, Harry echoed these sentiments, telling the media personality that "I love William to bits ... We've been through hell together. I mean, we have a shared experience. But ... we're on different paths" (via ET). Both have publicly expressed a desire to patch things up.
