The Latest Cast Member To Leave Vanderpump Rules
With the COVID-19 pandemic still raging, Lisa Vanderpump's sexy and unique restaurant SUR is open only with strict restrictions in place, meaning Bravo's cameras can't capture the antics of its pretty young crew for Vanderpump Rules. The ludicrously popular reality show, a spinoff of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which Vanderpump was once a part of, is eight seasons strong but its cast-members are dropping like flies. First, O.G.s Kristen Doute and Stassi Schroeder were fired for resurfaced racist behavior (via TVShowsAce).
Then, newcomers Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni were cut for similar reasons after just one season, and finally Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright quit due to impending parenthood. When the show does come back for a ninth season, it seems like poor, long-suffering Scheana Shay, often considered a major reason Vanderpump Rules is still on the air thanks to her unbreakable devotion to it, might be the only one left. Especially considering another cast-member just confirmed they won't be coming back.
Dayna Kathan is saying goodbye to SUR
Dayna Kathan, who joined Vanderpump Rules in Season 8 alongside Max Boyens, Brett Caprioni, Danica Dow, and Charli Burnett, revealed she will not be returning for another season. In a statement to E! News, Kathan noted, "It was a tough decision for me but ultimately the right one. I'm grateful for the experience and wish everyone on the show all the best!" She told a fan on Instagram, "I'm not returning but excited to see next szn!" The SUR waitress also wrote, "thank you for all the support!!! it was the right decision for me, i'm happier than I've been in a long time," in response to a fan account sharing news of her departure (via Instagram). Although production has yet to resume on Vanderpump Rules, head honcho Lisa Vanderpump is optimistic it will soon.
During a recent, virtual appearance on Watch What Happens Live, she told host Andy Cohen, "we're heading towards the right direction." Vanderpump opined, "I think Bravo's got to announce when they're ready to do that again. ... But yeah, we're getting there." The reality star also told E! News she's not worried about all the cast shake-ups, noting, "I think a lot of people want that show back because in the restaurant business there's always a smorgasbord of stories and relationships and there's a lot of the original cast." However, she clarified, "We want the restaurant to be back to at least 50 percent capacity [first]."
