The Meaning Behind Yummy By Justin Bieber

Canadian singer Justin Bieber shot to fame in 2009 after getting discovered by former So So Def marketing executive Scooter Braun on YouTube, (via Billboard). Over the next few years, Bieber became a teen sensation and amassed millions of adoring fans around the globe.

In 2015, the singer released his No. 1 album "Purpose," (via Billboard) and went on tour to promote the record. Bieber traveled the globe for most of the tour but decided to cancel his final fourteen shows to focus on his mental health, (via Billboard). Following the cancellation of his tour, Bieber took a five-year hiatus from creating solos music.

In February 2020, the star returned to the pop scene with his 17 track album, "Changes." The album featured the hit track "Yummy," which peaked at an impressive No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. This breakout single helped cement Bieber's status as one of the top pop artists of the moment and became one of the most popular songs of 2020.

Yummy is all about Justin's wife, Hailey

"Yummy" is an undeniably catchy song. The upbeat R&B track begins with the chorus, which opens with the lines, "Yeah, you got that yummy-yum / That yummy-yum, that yummy-yummy / Yeah, you got that yummy-yum," (via Genius).

Yummy is a term used to describe someone or something that you find very attractive. In this case, Justin Bieber is singing about his wife, supermodel Hailey Baldwin. Throughout the song, he sings about how Baldwin keeps him centered, enjoys the finer things in life with him, and is his number one girl.

Bieber gets this message across in the first verse with the lyrics, "Bona fide stallion / Ain't in no stable, no, you stay on the run / Ain't on the side, you're number one / Yeah, every time I come around, you get it done (you get it done)." In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Bieber confirmed that "Yummy" is about his sex life with his wife, (via YouTube). When DeGeneres asked him outright what the song is about he replied, "My sex life." He continued, "I mean it is what it is. I'm married."
