The Truth About Vera Farmiga's Relationship With Musician Renn Hawkey

Actress Vera Farmiga has won acclaim for her performances in "Bates Motel," "The Conjuring," "The Departed," and, more recently, for her appearance as Livia Soprano in "The Many Saints of Newark," the new prequel film for "The Sopranos." Like many an actor before her, it is through these roles that Farmiga has met both of her husbands: her first husband, Sebastian Roché, as well as her second husband, Renn Hawkey (via Ranker).

Farmiga met Roché back in 1997 on the set of the series "Roar." The show was one of Farmiga's very first roles. It also happened to feature Heath Ledger before he made his big breakthrough with "10 Things I Hate About You." Farmiga and Roché eloped in the Bahamas that very same year, but divorced in 2004 (via Girl.com.au). Today, Roché — who fans might recognize from "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" — is married to actress Alicia Hannah (via Amo Mama). And Farmiga, for her part, has moved on as well, with second husband Renn Hawkey.

Finding love again with Hawkey

A year after Farmiga divorced Roché, she met musician Renn Hawkey on the set of the television show "Touching Evil" (via Emmys.com). Hawkey, a member of the band Deadsy, later made his entry into the film world, producing the movie "Higher Ground," which Farmiga starred in and directed (via Amo Mama).

The pair wed on September 13, 2008, in a small ceremony. Not long after that, the two welcomed their first son, Fynn, and Farmiga had no choice but to return to work immediately after to film "Up in the Air," which would eventually earn her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress (via Daily News). "I could never reclaim these first precious moments of maternity," Farmiga shared with USA Today in 2010. "[But] I needed to pay my mortgage. It wasn't an option. I had to do the role." So a few years later, when Farmiga discovered she was pregnant with her second child, she exited the film "Machine Gun Preacher." In November 2020, their daughter Grytta joined the family (via People).

Over a decade into their marriage, it seems as though Farmiga and Hawkey are still going strong. In honor of their anniversary, Farmiga posted a sweet Instagram picture of the two kissing with cake on their faces, with the caption, "@rennhawkey I love gettin' messy with you, Boy. Thirteen gooey, gorgeous, glorious years. I'm gonna break your keto 2nite, Lover. Happy anniversary, my best friend."
