Here's How Marriage Has Really Changed Blake Shelton

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are one of the most likable and adorable celebrity couples. The pair, who seemed like an unlikely duo when they began dating back in 2015, won over fans when their love story played out on social media and as coaches on "The Voice." After years of dating, the duo finally announced their engagement in October 2020, and they officially tied the knot in July 2021 (via People).

Shelton and Stefani walked down the aisle in an intimate ceremony at their ranch in Oklahoma with their friend and "Voice" co-star Carson Daly officiating. "Blake built a chapel on the grounds of his Oklahoma ranch," a source exclusively revealed in December. "It's really a tribute to their love. They are going to get married in the chapel," a source told Us Weekly of the big day.

Following the wedding, Stefani opened up about her happiness during an interview with the "Tell Me About It" podcast (via Today). "It feels like that and it feels awesome so I just feel so lucky," she said. "My spiritual journey has really guided me towards this place of peace and now I just need to figure out how to do the rest of my life," she quipped.

It seems marriage has had quite the effect on the couple, as Shelton has recently made clear.

Blake Shelton says being married has made him soft

This week, Blake Shelton joked about his marriage to Gwen Stefani has changed him while appearing on "The Voice."

During Monday's all-new episode of "The Voice," Blake Shelton and his fellow coaches, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend prepared for the first night of the Season 21 battle rounds (via ET). Before the battles started, Shelton offered newbie coach Grande a tissue just in case she got a bit emotional before she was forced to make some tough decisions and cut contestants during the battle round.

"After this season, you won't ever need these again. You'll become callous like the rest of us," Shelton joked.

"That's so sweet!" Grande replied while looking comically suspicious, while Clarkson congratulated Shelton on the "nice gesture."

Shelton had a good reason for being so sweet to his fellow coach. "I'm married now," Shelton explained. "I'm a softie!"

Marriage hasn't completely softened Blake Shelton

While Blake Shelton may be feeling a bit softer since marrying Gwen Stefani, he's still ruthless enough to trash talk his fellow coaches on "The Voice." He may have handed Ariana Grande a tissue, but he previously joked (via ET), "Listen, Ariana is a super talented, very sweet human being. My feeling is, she's going to suck as a coach."

He also roasted the other coaches. "Kelly Clarkson, I think it's kind of fizzled out. I joke that NBC is nothing but Clarkson. People grow tired of it, people are sick and tired of it. And with John Legend, I don't even know if he knows he's on TV. I just feel like this year's going to be a gimme for me, and I'm excited about it," he said of his Season 21 odds.

Of course, as the winningest coach in the history of "The Voice," it seems Shelton can back up his trash talk.
