The Truth About Beanie Feldstein And Lea Michelle's Relationship

Hello, gorgeous! The first-ever "Funny Girl" revival is hitting the Broadway stage in late March of 2022, with "Booksmart" actress Beanie Feldstein at the helm (via People). The 28-year-old is the first actress to step into the role of Fanny Brice since the show's original run in 1964, and already has a personal connection to the material. Feldstein told Entertainment Weekly that "Funny Girl", "had a profound impact on me even from the time I was very, very little, under 3 years old. And so, when I found out about this, and there was the opportunity to audition, I couldn't believe it. It was in my wildest dreams."

Director Michael Mayer said that Feldstein's turn as Fanny Brice will be "fabulous", and that she's "delightfully funny, warm, intelligent, a charming singer and dancer, and truly a 'bagel on a plate full of onion rolls.'" So why then has another name been trending around the announcement of the revival?

Beanie Feldstein 'doesn't know' Lea Michele

"Glee" fans already know why actress Lea Michele, who played "Glee"'s famous diva Rachel Berry, would be a topic of conversation surrounding a "Funny Girl" revival. In fact, a burning desire to star in "Funny Girl" was a central motivation of Michele's character on "Glee" (via Billboard). In a 2017 episode of Andy Cohen's "Watch What Happens Live," Michele said that "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy had reportedly bought the movie rights to "Funny Girl" and that they had discussed the possibility of making it "right after 'Glee.'"

So when Michele commented on an August Instagram post that Feldstein used to announce her run in "Funny Girl," it set the theatre world abuzz. Michele wrote, "Yes! YOU are the greatest star! This is going to be epic!!" However, on the October 13th episode of Andy Cohen's "Radio Andy," Feldstein admitted, "I don't know the woman whatsoever" (via Sirius XM). While Feldstein said that Michele commented "very sweetly" on her post, she said that she had to have people explain why Michele was trending on Twitter after the announcement.
