Here's How Much The iCarly Apartment Would Cost Today

"iCarly" was one of Nickelodeon's premier children's series in the late 2000s and early 2010s (per IMDb), and viewers have wondered since it ended what the cast of "iCarly" is doing now. 2021 answered that question in spades, as most of the cast returned for Paramount+'s "iCarly" reboot, which boasts an older cast with both returning and new actors alike. It also boasts more mature content and themes, which is why the cast has said the "iCarly" reboot isn't for kids. One thing hasn't changed, though: the home in which the Shays live — and ran their famous web series over a decade ago.

The Miranda Cosgrove-led series is set in Seattle, Washington, with her character, Carly Shay, and her uncle, Spencer Shay, living in Bushwell Plaza in the Kennedy Square neighborhood of Seattle. However, according to Answers to All, the series was filmed in Hollywood, not Seattle, so the Shays' apartment and its establishing shots are movie magic come to life. The same can be said for the 2021 reboot of "iCarly," as it's filmed in a Hollywood studio, too, not Seattle.

One thing Seattle and Hollywood have in common is their high costs of living, which begs the question of just how much the Shays' apartment cost them.

The iCarly apartment would likely cost around $4,000 per month today

Per the "iCarly" episode, Miranda Cosgrove makes a surprising amount of money, and one may almost need to be an actor to afford a Seattle, Washington, apartment as large as Carly and Spencer Shay's. According to MVOrganizing, the "iCarly" apartment's exterior is likely taken from Los Angeles' Eastern Columbia Building. But in the show's canon, Spencer bought the apartment to end his tiresome, expensive renting sometime after the original "iCarly" ended and its reboot began. But how much would this cost?

The Shay apartment has a large living room, a full kitchen, a big studio, bedrooms, and potentially more space that viewers don't see. For the sake of comparison, let's say the Shay apartment is a three-bedroom apartment. According to Apartment List, the average three-bedroom apartment rent in Seattle in 2021 is $4,024.

In total, 43% of Seattle apartments fall in the $2,000-3,000 range, while 23% cost more than $3,000. The Shays' apartment is so big that it likely falls into this upper range, though we can't know for certain. The bigger question is how the Shays afforded this apartment in the original "iCarly" series. Spencer is an artist, but viewers never saw him selling much of his art. In any case, they could afford the apartment, which likely cost thousands of dollars per month.
